Artemis II just set a new record: the furthest any human has ever been from Earth.
But how far is that? I made a to-scale diagram of the Earth–Moon system to try to make sense of it. 🧵

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue and Green are sitting next to each other, Blue is on his laptop while Green is reading an appliance manual. Green: Let's see the safety booklet! "Only plug into properly installed outlets. Do not try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. If the appliance starts to leak unknown liquid, do not lick it. Do not sew clothes while someone is wearing them." Blue turns around to look at Green in disbelief, while Green goes on, reading aloud as if nothing is out of place. Green: "Do not let pets or small children use the sewing machine unsupervised."

An ICE 4 waiting in the fog at the outer end of the station, with the train shed looming in the fog
A pair of Baureihe 218 locomotives parked outside Frankfurt
Another Doppelstockwagen arriving through the fog

A DB Doppelstockwagen departing at speed
Supplies in various plastic crates being loaded into an ICE 3's restaurant car from a cart on the platform.
A few snaps from Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof while I was there for a few hours, connecting between my flight in and my ICE train out!
(Maybe this time I'll actually post photos I've taken instead of procrastinating for a full year...)

Three copies of the Rail Atlas on a display shelf at the National Railway Museum with one propped up, against the backdrop of a locomotive.
@joebrownlondon.bsky.social Saw your post on Twitter about the Rail Atlas being at the National Railway Museum, and am happy to say that I did get myself a copy while I was there last month + got this nice photo of the display!
Been playing quite a bit of SimRail, and I've never realised ETCS failures are simulated, until I got a Balise Read Error throwing the train into Trip mode!
I walked on stage at SI, you're seething in an Instagram comment section, get real buddy
I've said it before: I genuinely consider it a moral imperative that people my age and up bang the drum about what the Internet used to be so those younger know that there's nothing inherent about what it is now. The Internet doesn't have to be this; its culture can and has belonged to people.

I feel like I've exhausted all my good luck for the year when I planned an international rail journey with a connection and the Deutsche Bahn ICE recovered from a delay to arrive on-time.
Numerous Rainbow Six cosplayers getting into position on the steps of the stage at SI, with a few folks in the foreground standing around and helping with arrangements.
Six Invitational 2026 in Paris was amazing. And yes, I'm a few weeks late.
I'm pretty bad at keeping my social media up to date, but I've made a post with a long-ish writeup over on Instagram: www.instagram.com/p/DVOwzApEtFC/
I seem to recall trying like this before - it works just like salted caramel, the salt works well with the sweetness!
I walked on stage! Still unbelievable!!
This moment will live on in my heart, and being able to bring my absolute best creation made it magical.
So many thanks to the R6 team for making it happen, thanks to the community for supporting me, and lots of love to @r6roundtable.com!
It's been a super hectic weekend at #SixInvitational, but I want to also shout-out Nat (@mickkhaeelnat.bsky.social) who created the art for my stickers, and Prin (@/PrinLycoris) who helped create this batch of Round Table patches! #R6Community
Cosplayers on the stage at Six Invitational 2026 in Paris! We believe this is the largest cosplay presence at any event.

A meal deal - Tikka Chicken sandwich, Latte, and chocolate bar - on a concrete ledge against the background of buildings and a cable car station.
I've never been to MCM Comic Con but stayed in the area before, so it's really odd when I see photos of Comic Con from others and recognising the location, but my memory is of leisurely scrolls and having a meal deal on a bench outside of the City Hall lol
I think it's been long enough, I can probably talk about my card now! 🐈

This is the most amazing quiz I've ever done.
And a drone shot of it too.
(I do not recommend you fly your drone anywhere near any railway infrastructure. I am a professional drone operator, with knowledge of regulations, safety precautions, and insurance. Also, the shot is cropped and filmed from further away than it looks.)
Close-up of the end and ~3 metres of a new Piccadilly Line “2024 Tube Stock” train on platform 2 at Acton Town Station. Car is labelled 38030
Wide angle from the other end of the train, showing the front and maybe half the length snaking down the platform. There’s a high-vized staff member leaning through the door. Car is labelled 48030
Drone photo from the south, showing the train in the platform. (I am a professional drone operator and do not recommend you fly your drone around any railway infrastructure.)
Close up through tube door window showing “do not lean on door” signs.
I went on a hunt for the new Piccadilly Line tube trains yesterday.
I'd seen that they were testing them around Acton Town on Saturday, so headed over there to see if I could see one, and I struck the jackpot! There was one waiting in a siding, then another came round the corner into the platform!
The Tron arriving at Platform 3 is the new Piccadilly line train calling at Acton Town.
(Yes I'm trying to get our social media pages going again!)
TIL: if you travel between 16:00 and 19:00 on a weekday, TfL will charge a peak fare, but it counts towards the off-peak cap.
That's totally intuitive and not confusing at all.
