It does mention parents, health visiting, start for life etc. so is broader than education. (Babies are there!)
But it also, at this point, mainly about the goal. The strategy/policy/spending will follow.
Work to do…
Busy day today, lots of highlights! Great to see the fab BabyZone charity in West London.
Lovely to have Christmas celebrations with patrons & advisors at the Centre for Emotional Health.
& ended on Christmas drinks at Dept for Education where SoS said early years are her “no 1 priority”!
Comfort, counsel, connection and love.
The Princess’ letter for this week’s carol concert is not specifically about early years, but this describes so much about what babies & young children need from caring adults, & what those adults need from those around them.

This made me remember the times in Lockdowns when our neighbours alerted the street WhatsApp groups to any big boxes they had received which could be donated to local toddlers.
Never under estimate the joy of a box!
Evidence based programmes are great, but they don’t always replicate or scale effectively.
Alongside programmes, we need find other flexible and creative ways to scale evidence-based practice. Common elements approaches can help with this. This is a great short explainer.

Interesting to read this report from @timewise.bsky.social about flexibility in the early education and childcare workforce & its role in helping recruitment & retention. Good to see that children and parents’ needs for continuity & relationships are woven through it.
