Well now you need to build it.

Naming things and syntax that feels naturally Ruby are very hard problems not easily solved via Bluesky, agreed. It's always more of a whiteboard and staring thing for a solid week or two.
I half wonder if block-scopes could make it more isolated, e.g.
gem "something", "version" do |something_gem|
something_gem.ignore_upper!
end
...but spit balling. Agreed though that being able to override would be useful.

A New Chapter for Ruby Central (April 16, 2026) by Jey Flores & Ran Craycraft

Used to work with scada systems and most of the operators are not remotely equipped to deal with nationstate level actors. It's going to be rough.

I'm half convinced corporate strategy for April Fools day is "Haha! Just kidding! Unless..."
Goose meme: 1. Deeply Suspicious Goose - What are you replacing those institutions with? 2. Angry Goose Chasing Down Tech Bro - What are you replacing those institutions WITH!?
Done
Same as well, with a 6% on the exact same thing.

I joined RubyCentral to release a postmortem, and today I'm delivering my report on what happened. The hope is to provide more transparency and closure, 194 days since the incident on September 18.
I've named the incident "RubyGems Fracture." Read my report. #ruby

Just catching strays all around here.
Sounds great, we can find some time then.
If you're open to it I'd love to chat and pick your brain, as I'm drafting more than a few proposals about how the language and the community evolves to meet this moment. Granted as well I'm on the Ruby Central board, so I'm operating from that POV.
That tracks with a lot of my concerns. Transparently I have a vested interest in seeing how Ruby evolves for this new era and it's a hard question. I do not have a good answer yet.
I'd be curious what the reasoning was if you'd be open to share.
I've had this gem on repeat for a while:

Can't fix what ain't broken.
`sed` tu @cassidoo.co ?
I've been considering something similar for rspec or testing considering the cold boot and spring issues.
Making a bold bet: in the near future we're going to see a renaissance of visual programming that progressively abstracts us further from the underlying code.
Insofar as the impact of that move? Well that will be interesting unless we get real good at guardrails real fast.
Alright, listen up. Intel just dropped. 🕶️ Early Bird tickets for RubyConf go on sale March 16th — and they are LIMITED. Mark the date, stay sharp, and be ready to move. We only get one shot at this.

Same from last post: The journey of learning has all types of twists and turns, gaps, uncertainty, and it's a struggle.
Same as previous post: Lemur with straight path from A to B, what we think learning is.
Hrm, transparent backgrounds on dark mode with a dark line don't work well, let's try that again
Learning illustrated as a straight line between A and B, lemur running towards finish line.
The actual path of learning, curves, double backs, cliffs, skips, the lemur holding on for dear life rather than having a clean path to finishing.
I'd brought up a similar point in a talk a while back: Learning is the journey, not the destination, and the path to learning is never straightforward. Skipping that deprives someone of all the instinct building they get along the way, which is where seniority is forged.
So basically what he kept doing to Square / Block
We’re preparing to announce our first RubyConf 2026 keynote. This year’s keynote speakers represent voices that push the language and community forward in meaningful ways. Stay tuned for the reveal. 🫢
It's been a while, but sometimes when you first read something you're not really ready for it
