The format was previously used to select Armenia's entries in 2017, 2018, and 2020, after which ARMTV switched to an internal selection.

The new system also, as we saw on Saturday and far more than the old one, gives countries the false impression that they are in the lead/doing really well (which is…quite cruel to children, is it not?)… so if anything, I’d argue the new system creates *more* stress, not reduce it.
