We went to a Reptile & Exotics Expo today and there were many snakes, several varieties of lizard, some chameleons, the tiniest frog I've ever seen, and not enough large isopods. I did not see any interesting crabs, but that doesn't mean there weren't any there. It was a big expo with many humans.
"Come to My Keynote or I'll Key Your Car in the Parking Lot."
"Half Key. Half Note. ALL CAP."
I also wrote a letter about that!
The latest argument I'm seeing in Gen AI discourse in Facebook writing spaces is that AI covers aren't a problem, actually, because "If you hired a human artist you wouldn't be saying you drew the cover yourself anyway, so what does it matter if it's AI?" and I just can't with these assholes anymore
Situation Update: the story mentioned below just received its sixth rejection letter. On to the next inbox!
How to use Generative AI Ethically as a Writer:
1. Don't.
2. Repeat Step 1 (above).
Itβs fucking bizarre how people are acting like something from 2022 is something they canβt live without.
Like dudes, the emotional dependence on a sycophantic machine regurgitating nonsense to encourage you to stop engaging in critical thought and trust the slop is truly depressing to witness.
We're definitely overdue for a wave of new horror movies based on the classics which are actually horror movies. We've had a few which were steps in the right direction, but I want a full on slate of these (not necessarily a connected "cinematic universe" either, though I'm not opposed to that).
I heard, but man... I can't force myself to go to the Cowboys tent during Stampede, even for this!
I once heard someone say "The internet was better when they hid the power button on the back of the CPU."
In this still frame from Clerks: the Animated Series, Patrick Ewing celebrates a successful jump shot in front of cheering fans.
Patrick Ewing actually makes a jump shot, and the Knicks win an important game.
Where in Canada? I've used a Calgary-based independent printshop before, and was pleased with the product, service, and pricing.
For the record, oatmeal is both a cereal and a soup.
I can't explain the math behind it, but the big spoons are for cereal and soups and the small spoons are for pudding and yogurt.
I mean, if there's a small silver lining to be found in all this, at least the world is gaining an understanding of the long-term effects of untreated syphilis.
Status: Working on a new Pirates & Cosmic Horror kinda story for an upcoming submission call.
That's highly disappointing! I always thoroughly enjoyed your WWC talks in the years before the switch.
Any chance of this being a presentation at a future When Words Collide?
The 1919 Chicago White Sox have entered the chat...
(which is to say, we never learn anything as a society.)
I feel the same way about rigorous magic systems that I do about the science behind FTL space flight in stories, which is to say
Screw this, back to the BBS!
Impeachment won't do a damn thing. He was already impeached twice, and here we are. There's more likelihood of his being edited out of Home Alone 2 than there is of impeachment getting him out of office.
WordPad and Paint never needed or wanted this.

So, many of my fellow Canadians continue to boycott American alcohol as part of their response to Trump's tariffs (and everything else). Personally, I'm boycotting American beer and spirits because I don't trust it not to contain wood alcohol at this point.
Until this moment I had totally forgotten or missed that the El-Aurians and the Lanthanites are meant to be two (entirely?) different species.
Oh, too bad Paramount is owned by devoted Trump ally Dave Ellison now. I'm sure the titles published under this imprint won't be at all influenced by that.
