Here's the thing: I do some event planning at my job. I am literally organizing seating for our 500 person gala right fucking now.

It is the responsibility of the player to think of why their character wants/needs to participate in the hijinks of a game.

It is the responsibility of the GM to help define the tone of the hijinks in advance so the player can do so - possibly with aid from the whole table.
