Tweet from JK Rowling: Today's ruling by the IOC means a welcome return to fair sport for women and girls, but I'll never forget the scandal of Paris 2024, when people who consider themselves supremely virtuous and progressive publicly cheered on men punching women.

Been thinking about it since I saw JK Rowling posted this yesterday about the IOC's new policy, calling Imane Khelif a man.

Imane Khelif was born female. She was raised as a girl. Her original birth certificate says female. She's always been a woman.

But sure. "Men punching women."

It's time for another #FlashInTheFeed. Let's fill our dumpster-fire social media feeds with art for the next three days. Share a great flash narrative by a writer you don't know with this hashtag and we'll give away a copy of Shasta Grant's debut novel, When We Were Feral, to seven people at random.

Wow hahaha. Imagine being so arrogant that you decide your own deficiency is the norm and the entire rest of the human race is just lying about possessing critical thought.

Picture of a person standing in blinding light of a doorway into a dark and dirty room. The figure is too washed out with the light to see detail but is swathed in white gauzy fabric which they are holding in at the waist. The light illuminates dust in the air in lines radiating from the door. The image is colour but appears almost sepia because of the light contrast. Most Reform members believe non-white UK citizens born abroad should be forced or encouraged to leave, poll finds Nigel Farage’s recent efforts to woo centre-ground voters may cause tension in party’s right flank, says Hope Not Hate

The term for that is White supremacy and any coverage of Reform that does not include that term is complicit in whitewashing White supremacy. Sometimes things really are that simple.

A banner featuring a logo on the side with a painted anemone poppy and the handwriting-style text that says "Heal Minds Gaza" in a green circle. Next to it reads: "Heal Minds Gaza is a new initiative that will support children’s healing through therapeutic activities for self-esteem, social skills, and community-building. Support the first project for children who were detained in occupation prisons." The text is written on notebook paper cut in a circle. The banner is decorated with crayon sketches of hearts, stars, and squiggles in different colors.

The Kids Trump Sent to ICE’s Dilley Detention Center ProPublica went inside the immigrant detention center for families in Dilley, Texas. Children held there told us about the anguish of being ripped from their lives in the United States and the fear of...

We obtained the Dilley detention center’s 911 call logs.

Among them are pleas for help for toddlers having trouble breathing, a pregnant woman who passed out and an elementary-school-aged girl having seizures.

We don’t have a table at the book fair, this year, we just have ourselves and maybe some t-shirts. Perhaps we’ll cover ourselves with fairy lights instead, who can say.
