Solidarity with immigrants in the Global South doesn't just mean protecting them for deportations here. It means protecting their families, who live all over the world, from the ravages of climate breakdown and green colonialism.
We can't build that global politics of green solidarity in secret.
Climate is a completely malleable issue. There are horrible, wealthy plutocrats who talk about net zero. And there are Filipina social movements demanding that the rich world decarbonize. The "climate movement" isn't an objective thing. In different times & places, the words mean different things.
