At what point does the military step in? Isn’t that what often happens in dictatorships where the dictator goes insane? Isn’t the US military supposed to have a plan for everything?

I have colleagues in Silver Spring (NOAA HQ) who, let's just say "witnessed" Elon's team at facility and overheard them at various times. Apparently there was a conversation with "giggles" about plans to cancel non-SpaceX launch contracts thru NASA citing "inefficiency". That's pretty wild stuff.
