"[History] is really complicated, and you have to tell that complication. ... Any idea of boiling it down to simplistic slogans is not American," Ken Burns said. https://to.pbs.org/4p6Y47H
MUPPET KNIVES OUT
This is the scariest thing you've ever written.
For clarification: I don't intend to remain drunk all weekend.
Just giving my brain and my nerves a break for one night.
It's Friday.
It's been a HELL of a week.
I would like to get drunk.
Specifically, I would like to get drunk and not think about all the shit that's still going to require thinking about in the morning anyway.
AGREED ๐๐ผ
Respect to clergy protesting mass deportation
Thank you!!
J Wellington Wimpy, of Popeye cartoons, with his tongue out to the side, holding a hamburger in one hand with a speech bubble that reads, "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."
So many things get me about the roll over, show belly capitulation from the Senate. And one of them is that the promise of a future vote in the Senate isn't even the promise (ha!) of future *passage* of an ACA bill because House would have to deliver same promise.
81 years ago, FDR proposed a second Bill of Rights to guarantee every American the right to employment, healthcare, education, housing, and a living income. His words are as relevant now as they were then. Watch.
What was the damn point of the shutdown? People missed paychecks, families went without SNAP, and Democrats walked away with nothing.
This isnโt about moderates versus the far left. Itโs about whoโs actually fighting for people who are struggling.
She nails where so many of us are right now.
It's not a loss.
Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".
But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.
My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.
We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.
We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.
No health care, no deal.
Thank you for holding the line on this.๐๐ผ
Thank you, thank you, thank you! ๐๐ผ
Dems backed Trump into a corner where heโs advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing itโs a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.
DO NOT CAVE!
There is no good faith on the right. Even those who disagree with 45/47 are afraid to go against the grain when it counts.
There is no reason to relent without securing the ACA subsidies.

esquire article with headline โwhy does gen z love rumours so much?โ
every generation loves Rumours. itโs fucking Rumours
A tyrant doesnโt negotiate when compassion is the price.
He starves the people, then blames their hunger on the ones offering bread.
Let the record show, when given the choice between power and compassion, the GOP chose the lock over the key.
#ACASubsidies
Senate Dems, do not cave. Ensuring healthcare premiums donโt surge is an 80-20 issue. They want to gut the ACA because their disdain for Obama far outweighs their concern for anyoneโs health.
Old-time word, "groceries".
Tear it all down. Disinfect. Burn some sage.
