The Rosette Nebula (NGC 2237-2239, NGC 2246), a large emission nebula in the constellation Monoceros.

Its reddish hue is due to ionized hydrogen gas, which glows in the H-alpha spectrum when excited by ultraviolet radiation from the young, hot stars within the nebula.

Captured from my backyard.
