baking instructions that include “uncover stir, and re-cover.” there should be a comma between ‘uncover’ and ‘stir,’ but alas! it’s nowhere to be found!

when one person wants an oxford comma and the other person doesn’t, they compromise with this:

Oxford comma news: Dutch paper Telegraaf wrote “a [demonstration] organized by Hamas-linked organizations, Milli Gorus and the FIO.” FIO sued saying this implied they were Hamas-linked; in fact it was an additive comma, not explicatory. But judge ordered a correction placed online.

Whilst it may not solve all of the world’s problems, I think we can all agree that having more bakeries, libraries, structures with gargoyles, quaint cafés, museums, Ukraine flags, independent bookstores, and Oxford commas would be an important first step.

I just saw a post alleging that among the “tells” a post is written by ChatGPT is use of an em dash—not to be confused with its younger sibling the en dash, or lil’ baby hyphen—and frankly fuck that.

The noble em dash is maybe the most versatile punctuation—I use it constantly.

Prime use of the Oxford comma there—otherwise it’s “my parents, Cheeto and Lola” 😅

The sentence is:

"However, many longstanding policies and practices in undergraduate STEM education have produced, perpetuated, and exacerbated differences in opportunities, experiences and outcomes among post-secondary STEM students."

Whoever wrote this sentence loves the rule of threes but does NOT love consistent Oxford comma usage

Just a kindly reminder that you are only one person and you can't fix everything, nor is it your job to do so. Focus on what you can control. Focus on what brings you peace, love, and happiness. Focus on the Oxford comma. Wait, what?

Oxford comma. It’s important. Use it people or you may regret it . Also, learn when to use and not use an apostrophe. Yes, it matters! Perhaps I can sleep now that I got that out there.
