Oof. Night shift is no joke. And neither is trying to adjust back to day.

“Well, if I were You-Know-Who, I'd want you to feel cut off from everyone else. Because if it's just you alone, you're not as much of a threat.”
- a quote that keeps running through my head from that terfy author

I hope you're proud how you would grovel in submission /

“And with the dawn, what comes then
When it's clear that everything will never be the same again?
Then I'll make the choice
To hear that voice
And do the next right thing”

“When all you've got is not enough to get you through the day
(Send love)
Your candles burnt down to the wick, no fuel for a flame
(Send love)
Send love without conditions,
And maybe to yourself this once
To show you are deserving of love”

Uncle iroh sharing tea with Lu Ten, and quote that says “"You must never give in to despain. Allom yourself to slip down that road and you surrender to your lomest instincts. In the darkest times, hope is something you give yourself. That is the meaning of inner strength."
And yet we can remember that no nation is a monolith, and we each have a sliver of light within us. AtLA reminds us that joy and community and love and care and whimsy are worth preserving in the face of hate.
Are you scared?
If you’re following me for content about humanity in the workplace, ousting the eff-your-feelings crowd and delivering affirming care to people who are different but certainly not broken, what’s happening in the world right now is probably terrifying.
But you know what?
@ltzwitch.bsky.social says “instead of hurling raw anger transmute that energy to strengthen your community.
This is dirt work: planting, cultivating, pruning, & fertilizing.
There’s darkness here too: the dark plays an important role in germination & overcoming fear”

Beloved ally friends, there is a difference between offering support and needing to vent fear with someone. I recognize that there's a message of "check on your queer friends" going around, but like a lot of quick messages, there's some nuance being lost.
Before you reach out, please do a quick...
“We shall be known by the company we keep /
By the ones who circle round to tend these fires
…
In this Great Turning we shall learn to lead in love”

Text of the poem “Good Bones” by Maggie Smith Life is short, though I keep this from my children. Life is short, and I’ve shortened mine in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways, a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways I’ll keep from my children. The world is at least fifty percent terrible, and that’s a conservative estimate, though I keep this from my children. For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird. For every loved child, a child broken, bagged, sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world is at least half terrible, and for every kind stranger, there is one who would break you, though I keep this from my children. I am trying to sell them the world. Any decent realtor, walking you through a real shithole, chirps on about good bones: This place could be beautiful, right? You could make this place beautiful.
“I am trying
to sell them the world. Any decent realtor,
walking you through a real shithole, chirps on
about good bones: This place could be beautiful,
right? You could make this place beautiful.”

“Look at the family I have made, I’m stronger / When we’re marching hand in hand it’s a love that they can never ban and never sever. ‘Cause if we’re banned we’ll be banned together.”

“When I lift my voice, let it be in song
A defiant note in the face of wrong
I won't stand alone, we'll stand side by side
'Cause we know that love is always justified
When they try to divide us
It will only unite us
I lift my voice”

A small group came over for my birthday and I requested we play Totem, the “be seen and learn to accept compliments” game.
This is what they saw in me ❤️🥹
"Sometimes I ache for faithlessness:
the comfort of the hopelessly lost
...
Hope draws you up, stumbling and sore,
to run another mile through the thorns."

That’s one of a few driving factors to me pursuing professional chaplaincy. It is so important to a young religious movement. Not only so we know how to deal with things personally and in our communities, but also so we can get recognition on the mainstream society level.
Oh, wow! It is coming up, isn’t it. Crazy.
