I thought that was one of the better reports. I like that they have background on how we got to this position. But I’m highly skeptical that it was a surprise to EVERYONE. Stuff like this never stays secret. Even if everyone says it’s a secret.

That’s true. I guess I should’ve specified signed deals. But they still have to convince someone else to give them more money and if the GM‘s knew the cap numbers then there might not really be a change the situation.

You’ll notice it doesn’t actually have the GM saying he didn’t know. They talked to the coach and they talked to the quarterback and they may have talked to the assistant waterboy but any suggestion that Kyle Walters didn’t know is complete speculation to make the story dramatic.

The players have no grounds to back out of deals. They agreed to contracts for their services. It really doesn’t matter how much money the other guy has to spend.

True, but at 29 he may the perfect age to be QB. There’s two routes to the CFL. One is straight outta college, but the other is after years of assorted pro experience. If he’s committed and takes to VA’s mentorship, Calgary’s got a significant upgrade to its QB room.

Keyword is promotion. If he shows up at the Canucks game and does an interview on TV that’s promotion. And he doesn’t have to sell tickets if that exposure is selling corporate advertising and jerseys.

Fair question. But I think Chad Kelly might be a better example of the downfalls of the marketing money can of worms.
