I had so much fun doing heat build shenanigans but the weapon you get for completing the game is such a goofy ass game changer I'm doing a whole replay with it. They really knocked it out of the park with the weapon and hacking options.
There's some talk about how Capcom are keeping the spirit of late PS2/Early PS3 game design alive with their recent releases.
If that's the vibe you're after, I HUGELY recommend Kunitsu-Gami, which sold very (comparatively) little and feels like a gorgeous modern remake of some obscure PS2 game.

The thing you pilot at the end of the game is one of my favorite takes ever on the "not power armor, but barely a mech either" concept. When I have time to do more Lancer original frames, I want a 1/2 size that channels this vibe.
They find ways to keep the encounters challenging and you unlock a good number of new hacking abilities and weapons that let you really tailor how you approach the combat.
