USDA cancels $1B in local food purchasing for schools, food banks States have been notified that they will not receive 2025 funding for schools to buy food from nearby farms.

The Agriculture Department has axed two programs that gave schools and food banks money to buy food from nearby farms and ranchers. Roughly $660 million that schools and child care facilities were counting on to purchase food has been canceled.

This will hurt both kids and small, local farmers.

If we consider how much they're not rightfully paying in taxes, aren't billionaires much more on the government dole than someone who has worked minimum wage their whole lives and struggles to put food on the table for their family?

I'm with you - 59 and paying in since I was 19 years old, with trust that it would be there. Where I work, I see people who worked & saved. They paid in their entire careers & lost their retirement funds in the 2008 crash. Too late to do anything about it. They're living on social security.
