every so often i get this sudden urge to buy a typewriter (i have zero clue how any of it works) (the only thing i know is the price) (what the fuck is an ink ribbon)
bingo
looking at it, I can only actually glean two bits of info about the story: the manus is attacking spdm to get rid of the immunity ritual on it and the foundation immunity zones are created by objects named doves
nothing else, and compare that to previous annivs or trailers
my r1999 hot take of the day is the 3.7 is the worst fucking trailer in the 3.X series
everything is pretty well utilized in terms of the murder and if you dont mind a little bit of stretching reality to make it work, you would enjoy it a lot
if i had to compare it, i'd say it's something like ace attorney where the cases are absurd but really fun at the end of the day

woo 2 murder mysteries back to back
it's a bit less of a whodunnit than it is a howdunnit with an extremely unique scenario and setting being the crooked house
every single time i go on r1999twt i just feel this urge to quote retweet at least one person oh my god how do you get to that conclusion
every so often i like to remind myself that chapter 4 and chapter 7 of 1000xresist are some of the best moments in gaming ive had that ellicited so much out of me through sheer narrative alone
so excited to see what prove youre human brings to the table

π After the Funeral
π 4/5
Very well done set-up and mystery, with intrigue increasing per plot point crossed
Interesting and well-rounded cast (love the family tree) and Poirot was well-used throughout
The solution is also extremely well put, with an amazing killer reveal

Too little Poirot for a Poirot
A hella interesting hook with of the situation but just dragged on during the investigation due to forgettable cast
The ending was anticlimactic despite interesting solution

... Marquez definitely has his own style and spin on the matter.
Really captivating book to go through even if you already know what is going to happen right from the very beginning
Kinda amazing how colorful the town becomes in a little over 100 pages and how connected you get to the characters

First dive into LatAm lit and it's genuinely been so good
It's a really interesting format and way of narration that I kinda gotten used to reading a few Borges but...
My static tastes often revolve around murder mysteries, detective fiction, thrillers, and the occasional classics tho I'm trying to expand a little bit more beyond that (hopefully with this year)

been a bit since I read a thriller with actual normal people
genuinely enjoyable, the cast are really well characterized and it puts in front of you enough to be engaged all throughout
rating might change
It may just be that I really don't care that much for the characters at all, except maybe for Nicole, and even for the others where I should hope to be rooting for their downfall or smth, I just felt nothing in particular towards
And with boring characters, the rest of the world seemed dull as well

I don't really know where to start here tbh
Because I can absolutely see that the writing and prose are good, I just struggle to be engaged with it at all
Book 2's the best of the three I feel
the more it settles on me the more i feel like the whole of ch12 is lesser than the sum of its parts
like i love individual scenes taken apart and taken on its own like stage 14, 15, and 16 but when you take it as a whole, it doesn't seem that impressive
still a pretty good chapter
can I turn this acc to adults only and mdni so that I can have my moldir thirsting here peacefully or is it too late for that
i would never disrespect queen christie like that (unless she actually writes dogshit)

π And Then There Were None
π Agatha Christie
π’ HarperCollins
π·οΈ Murder Mystery, Thriller
π 4.5/5
Christie does it again oh my fucking god how did I take so long to actually read this
Genuinely such a good story altogether but probs doesnt beat my fav Christie which is Ackroyd
now that im done with ch12 i keep remembering that one post from a popular r1999 twt acc when 3.3 trailer released in cn and they went "well i guess i wont be reading through ch12 when it comes to global" and damn some people really are that proud of their media illiteracy are they
it /can/ be enjoyable upon first read-through but the more it settles in, the more the flaws really start to show itself, and it's pretty obvious that there is a difference in writing quality between ch1+2 and the chapters that follow from a narrative, flow, and character standpoint
god no wonder r1999 ch2 was the most 4/10 chapter ever it was based off of a 4/10 book

why use few word when long word better
my first book from James and so I didn't know her writing style before... I mean it's fine, the mystery is intriguing, I just don't feel like reading more of her works because of it
I miss fru
it's been over a year now and i genuinely still cannot get 1000xResist out of my head, i genuinely think that it will stick with me for the rest of my life and a monument as to what a great story can be
you can even say it remains, and remains, and remains
works by freaks of nature

Still good period piece tho, not as much of a mystery as it was originally presented unfortunately
