ICE makes the World Cup part of my beat, but I’m also really excited to be filming outside the stadiums to document what a shitshow this all is.

Long shot here, but I'm looking for some information about an ex-cop. If I have any followers who work/recently worked for the Alexandria City Police Department (Virginia), I'm mlm335.27 on Signal.

Yeah I agree, but when I say that, as I did earlier and have many times in the past, people ALWAYS still cry lol

I’m pretty confident saying it’s just not accurate that FAs are taking the hit to their record bc me or Josh Barro might still be at security. They’re penalized for late take off which is another gripe of mine, since many times you’re just on tarmac for 40 minutes.

You booed people bc the flight took off on time? Where are you flying out of that waits?

My experience flying near weekly for the bulk of the last 17 years reflects this. An exception is people on delayed flights who have a layover, but that’s totally irrelevant to what’s being discussed so who knows what he’s talking about.

Planes are similar to uber in that way

Same people who say they like to have a $15 beer while they wait lol. Over $700 a year flying weekly and that’s if you never eat or have two!

Sometimes I show up to the airport 5 days early.

It’s wild to see people suddenly loving airport lol

Yup, I hate wfh. We exist!

Literally anything but spending an extra 40 hours a year at the airport.

I don’t care.

i'm sure on some airlines at some price points it is, but i don't book the lowest price tier of flight. i book all travel the same, but i primarily travel for work, and any journalist flying on a strict ticket is gonna have a bad time.

Anyway, it really just depends on how often you fly. If you fly once a year, missing your flight is a really big deal. If you fly every week? Shit happens, who cares. It’s also a lot easier to say you love to show up hours early when you fly once a year.

No, that would be insane.

And just to make people really angry, I only book one way, and often book 2 or 3 flights so I can really show up whenever.

This would be much more than three hours if I didn’t just cancel my flights as soon as they get delayed more than an hour (flights canceled by me don’t show up in the metrics). If you live in a hub, there’s always another plane. You’ll be fine.

He was right on this BTW. People get incredibly neurotic about missing flights because they've never missed one. Once it's happened to you (assuming you're not travelling with kids) it's annoying but fine and you start leaving/wasting less time at airports.

??????

those are completely different situations, thankfully. the walking to the stadium that I’m talking about is not an issue there.

Also, they went back-and-forth between how early they closed the circle, which was the difference between having to go on a highway to get anywhere or not. And that was really fucking annoying. No consistency. And I’m not talking hours, I’m talking days.

If there was a way to tag my old HOA here I would.

1 day ago 1 0 0 0

I had a neighbors who bought golf carts and were taking people down until the demonic HOA told them to stop

I wanna be clear this is not the year or stadium side that I am referring to, so this answer actually does not impact my experience

I found it more annoyed to have to show my ID to homicide to get onto my street than the eight days a year there were football games. Miserable HOA though.

a public road leading to the stadium.

Today marks 11 years since the death of Freddie Gray. Last year, we documented the ways everyday people in Baltimore came together to create change.

So ICE is helping with security, the train is $150 and FIFA won’t allow access to the parking lot, and walking to MetLife is illegal/dangerous — and if people decide to walk an hour anyway, it will be like 85 degrees with 70% humidity. Sounds like a World Cup for the books!
