I hate the online reaction cycle that praises a piece of art a lot and uses it as an example of what’s good about the medium but then the moment it gets awards or enough acclaim or fandom, suddenly we have to talk about how it’s actually not really that good and it’s overrated and always sucked
If that sounds stupid, that's because it is. Social media thrives on engagement through vindication. And as someone who just cares a lot about games, I can't tell you how sick to death I am of it all. I rarely talk about it, but it gets harder and more embarrassing to be involved in this by the day.
