I got one of these as a present at a conference once: a 3d-printed trefoil with no tri-tangent plane. I did not know that until I took it off the supports and set it on my desk.
I *also* learned that my desk is not quite level
it is sturdy and survived hitting the floor

We just got a reminder that we are not to download or use unapproved software, explicitly including AI tools! I imagine this is more from viewpoint the university's legal exposure on data security.
They made a special point that accessing the chatgpt website from a university machine was forbidden

I really want this exam to involve group work

honestly, share your unease and the narrative tension with them! It will help motivate why people are still making up new math words

I mean, that's a really good syllabus

oh no. I only sent you *some* of the extras. I wanted to be properly prepared, so I really overdid it. There were so many I could have wallpapered my office and the classroom.

you know, self-reported data is worth the paper you write it on. just fill out some random numbers.
include "I spent 35 hours compiling and entering data for this form"

those elite universities function more as gateways to *power and influence*, at least on the national level that's the target.
farther away from the centers of national power, we have some state governments doing their own local versions (waves from flyover country)

circumscribed circles and traditional angles in circles theorems have entered the chat.
(also, I definitely do call them circular functions and have heard others do so)

A hexagonal grid in the plane with each cell filled with a small image of a black and white fractal. Some of the fractals are larger (and darker) than the others, so when looking from a distance another image emerges (as the fractals themselves act like dark/light pixels for the larger image)

I have a second piece display at O'Hanlon Center for the Arts in Mill Valley CA this month, entitled "Julia". Here it is, and a short math-explainer of what we're looking at

a woman is sitting on a couch in front of a wall that says `` welcome ! everything is fine . '' Alt: "Everything is Fine" opening scene from NBC's "The Good Place", with Kristen Bell.

I used to post long #VisualAlgebra threads on #MathTwitter before realizing that I was actually in #TheBadPlace. I'm going to make my debut #MathSky thread today, with visuals that I've never publicly shared. (Can you guess the topic?) I'm excited to show you, and I hope you enjoy!
