Happy Book Day!!! This was the first "big" book I read. I was very impressed with myself. And (maybe because of that) I loved the story.
To avoid flack from my CEs, I use "rear seat" and "rear yard," which sound stilted, but at least I don't hate them. And the buildings in my books are made of yellow brick. (But not the roads.)
I HATE it as a noun. Just as much as I would hate "frontseat." I also hate "backyard." We don't have frontyards and sideyards. And I hate "redbrick" (unless you're talking about certain British universities.)

I chose "donut" for my Deputy Donut Mysteries so that if I used the word in a title, the title would be shorter, leaving more room for the book covers' artwork. Also, fewer letters to type (!) in the manuscripts. Call me pragmatic. And lazy . . .
