New #gameassets โœจ

I've created 150+ light cookies/masks compatible with all game engines that support this feature. Includes white on black, black on white and white on transparent backgrounds for each. CC0, public domain, all free!

Why not .gitignore?

You can't have a folder and a file in a directory with the same name :(

2 days ago 0 0 0 0

The reason I chose the name .ignore is because periods are sorted at the top, making it nicely tucked away from actual project folders

ex:

.ignore/
assets/
src/

vs

assets/
ignore/
src/

It's definitely one of the simpler things to set up in git! I wish I had done it sooner - I was constantly creating a folder and putting a .gitignore in it. Having it set globally removes that extra friction

Hot tip for git users!

Wanna add files (todo lists, notes, images, etc) to your project but don't want to commit them to your repo?

1) create a new folder (I call it `.ignore`)
2) create a global .gitignore with ".ignore" as its content

I should be mad but I'm just dumbfounded with the fact that that could even happen

I am speechless about the fact that I just accidentally restarted my PC by hitting the WinKey, fat fingering some other keys, and then hitting the R key

It's also so wild to see how I coded 2014-2019. I'm finding things I wouldn't do today, and patterns I had forgotten about

However, PHP has gotten sooooo much better since 5.4. I had to upgrade my server to support a change I made involving enums, which apparently were introduced in 8.1

They've adopted lots of features from other languages and smoothed out some of the clunky parts of the language

Still many tweaks I'd like to make, but this was a low-effort/high-reward change so I prioritized it.

Other changes are going to be a lot more involved, and it's a huge paradigm shift being back in PHP land after doing so much React/Next.js in recent years

Before/after making some changes on my mom's bakery's website - border-radius (rounded corners) weren't a thing in 2014 when I first made this site

A much needed facelift :)

What I love most about this is that BOTH of you have cool stories to tell from the interaction :)

With Scrabble, I also had to do a lot of digging. They have tons of small things like the letter frequency/distribution, the board layout (2x, 3x tiles), and other minute details, but the actual gameplay is largely free to use/iterate on

IIRC from a former project, the word "tetrominos" is copyrighted, but the shapes themselves are not?

Far too niche to be asking the same price as a Switch 2

However, I do want to make a game for it ๐Ÿ‘€ Hopefully someone will post a DIY version in the coming months

Alternatively, if anyone knows of any repos/examples lying around the web (that have a license that allows me to use them non-commercially), that'd work too!!

Hey y'all! I've got a request for all the game devs out there ๐Ÿ‘€

Is there anyone using TexturePacker, Asesprite, or other tools to create texture atlases that would be willing to share their files with me? I'm having a hard time finding examples to test my importer

Ditto. I grew up in MN & lived/traveled all over the US, have not seen any of these before. I vaguely remember a friend saying something about a "Food Mommy" store years ago, but I assumed it was a one-off store somewhere
