By way of introductions, here's a picture I took in Las Vegas - where everything is shiny, vibrant, more saturated... and fake. I submitted it to a photo-sharing site. They declined to publish because it was so vibrant and saturated that it looked fake.

It doesn't sound like self-indulgent whining to me. More like you've been through a hellish process where anxiety (and depression) would be warranted - and normal. Yet you seem to be intent on focusing on the positive - and it's admirable. Hang tough man.
