This is so wonderful! The weather and environment truly are so fab, but the only thing more amazing than all that is YOU being there — they’re so lucky!

oh man, thanks for reading 💜 I eagerly await the onslaught of many excellent tabs on this thread!
Logo where MITP is rendered as a series of straight lines at the same height, except near the end there is a longer line that towers above the other bars (forming the T) and a line that stretches below the others (forming the P)
this made me think of the MIT Press logo which I think is very clever but not on the design level of this one
ooh wow can 100% see the textbook, the colors really make it too
omg these are amazing!!
this is the only and best gif response to this news. absolute queen
I mourn the fact that men who are caring + equal partners are not more of a reality 😢
I must also point out that this show’s portrayal of masculinity is top notch. I always hated the bumbling husband trope in basically every form but it’s mostly highly competent, emotionally intelligent, and loving kings from here on out 👑
oh ha whoops very germane to our earlier conversation about media industries
wait wait what happened 🫣
brb calling my mom 😭
it’s a show about three generations of women on Jeju Island, from a haenyeo grandma to a first gen college student in Seoul. Lots of great historical and cultural backdrop, and absolutely incredible characters / story arcs
my god if you need a clean shot right in the feels may I recommend the absolute masterpiece that is “When Life Gives You Tangerines”
In terms of what’s understood to be socially acceptable behavior, normalizing the filming/taking pictures of people in public who are minding their own business (and putting it online) is one of the worst developments of the past 15 years.
absolutely iconic introduction
i … um … what?? pure nightmare fuel
I definitely will! You may regret offering ;)
as annoying as it may be for people to mistake “Thailand” for “Taiwan,” I’m sorta pleasantly surprised that no one has ever remembered me as being from China
This is such a beautiful piece by @liao.shen-yi.org abt media portrayals of Taiwan + how Taiwan is constructed in political / intellectual discourse. Pocketing it to periodically send to people, esp those who want to talk to me about Thailand :)

yes!!! That’s a much better framing than I wrote. I also made the mistake of looking up some of the discourse on the other site and the proliferation of “if you’re doing well academically, how can you have a learning disability” is a lot and I am 🫣
I still believe in the idea of learning 100% non AI writing as a way of learning how to think independently but maybe that’s an uninformed take too, idk
I haven’t tested this out yet, but I’m thinking of having them write the first draft in class so I can at least see their 100% non AI writing even if they don’t finish in 2 class sessions, then let them use AI (or not) in their revisions and final product
I’m wary of this and I’m afraid that I will end up using these too 😥 as much as I want to avoid an adversarial relationship to students where I assume they’re all using AI, it just doesn’t feel practical anymore to assign take home essays if the goal is to teach students to write on their own
I totally agree! I feel like there are sort of default accommodations like extra exam time but whether or not they actually help is a totally different issue
it’s going to be 9 degrees FAHRENHEIT on Friday???? NOT OK, Boston, NOT OK.
EVERYONE GO TO BED
(its me im everyone)
I recently read a piece in The Atlantic casting aspersions on the rising # of disability accommodation requests, arguing that too many students are abusing the system. Even if that is true, I still don’t think that malingerers are the real problem — our approach to pedagogy is. A few thoughts:
did i get anything done today? no. but did i relax? also no.
this hits so hard it's painful
