Maddie & Phoebe, a pair of tuxedo cats, sitting together on a cat tree by a window.
For longtime followers, a Maddie & Phoebe update: they're doing great! They turn 9 this year and they're very healthy and energetic. They love their new downtown apartment.

Album cover for the Generation Exile soundtrack, showing a silhouette of the game's generation ship superimposed over a settlement from the game.
The Generation Exile soundtrack is now complete! Made over the course of 6 years, it's 38 tracks, 1 hour 35 minutes of music. I'm especially proud of the biome tracks, each of which has 4 distinct versions.

Mamdani is proving over and over again that the reason other elected leaders don't do this stuff is simply because they don't want to.

Your Tax Day reminder that trickle-down economics is a cruel hoax designed to enrich the wealthy and corporations while draining money for the middle class and the poor.
Don't let billionaires fool you into thinking we shouldn't tax the rich.

how is anyone supposed to get work done dude. that's live. that's earth, right now, right this minute, and in an hour they are gonna splash in the sea. too in awe to think about where we'd be if this is what we funneled our tax dollars to instead of bombs that make gas prices quintuple overnight

The fact that we go out and on the streets to protest while they post platitudes is infuriating. They could stage a protest literally inside the capital building right now if they wanted to.

The number one thing that leftists, liberals and progressives can do to improve the future fortune of our brand of politics is to start giving as much of a shit about the little races - school boards, DAs, sheriffs, judges & state reps - as we do about the big, national, high visibility ones.

In Korea, when the president declared martial law after midnight and erected barricades in Seoul, congressional reps from all parties ran into the streets, yanked ak47s from the army at the barricades, broke down the locked door to Congress, repealed the martial law order, and arrested the president

Non-universal programs will always be weaker. They will always do a worse job of reaching people in need. They will always create harmful stigma. They will always cost more to administrate.
Stop buying the bullshit marketing about means-testing.

They Pay $34 for Burgers. Should Their Child Care Be Free?
A free preschool center opening in one of New York City’s wealthiest neighborhoods raises questions about Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s vow to expand universal child care.
yes. they pay more based on income in taxes for the thing that is then “free” for everyone. this is how public services work

There's a massive, ancient doorway that's been sealed for centuries, no human has been inside the temple for 1000 years, etc. After hours of effort you get a long, dramatic door-opening animation, and then you get inside and there's a shaft of sunlight coming down thru a huge hole in the roof.

Really glad someone is noticing this stuff already! As of now there are six recurring musical themes in SN2, five of which come from Below Zero; one is new. Each one is placed intentionally and is meant to convey a distinct vibe. At some point after release I'll write a whole blog post about it.

The Medusa Planetarium motif has become hugely important to the entire SN2 soundtrack! You might be the first person to notice. :)

Finished Resident Evil Requiem last night. It's probably the easiest RE I've played, but it was so enjoyable and paced so well that I didn't mind at all. The blending of two character styles was perfect and transitions between them were very intentional. I loved the whole experience.
