Construction is underway at Greater Sudbury’s future event centre site. Steel pilings are being driven 26 to 56 metres into bedrock to secure the foundation. Crews expect the building's shell to be complete by next year, with the full project on track for a fall 2028 opening. Madison Marier reports.

Elbows up, Canada.
Excited to be taking on this new role and making the move to Greater Sudbury! www.greatersudbury.ca/city-hall/ne...
If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general.
If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.
I’m starting to think this isn’t about government efficiency.
President Carter defined what it means to be a servant leader. He fought for our democracy, our climate, humanity, and civil rights around the world. We can find peace today knowing that he is reunited with the love his life, Rosalynn.
Montreal isn’t perfect on housing but this is one thing I *love*. Apartments are everywhere, including quiet streets. The dreadful idea that apartments and renters only belong on busy roads (to act as a “buffer” for single-family homeowners) simply is not a thing in a neighbourhood like this.
The thing to remember about Minneapolis and housing is that the 87% of new units were 20+ units builds in transit-oriented and commercial corridors. They did build height *minimums* and abolished parking minimums.
ICYMI, most read story in the Sunday Toronto Star was my look at how "15-minute city" conspiracy theories are roiling efforts of local councils in the GTA and beyond to make communities more bikeable and walkable www.thestar.com/news/gta/how...
They should just rename vaccines “supplements” so everyone will like them.
Urbanism wins when people who own cars don’t feel the need to use them all the time.
Our boomer population is getting very close to the point where many of them will lose their driver's licenses for medical reasons.
We need to start building more bike/accessibility lanes so they can still access shopping, events, and more independently.
“Bluesky is an echo chamber!”
Our Reply: Echo chamber? Nah, we prefer to call it surround sound for facts.

Bluesky works differently than platforms you're already used to. Liked posts don't get boosted to new eyes. The key is reposting.

Oh how nice it is to see no shitty ads every other post.
I have been thinking this all week. Some people are still talking like the rules won't change. Some people just presume Trump didn't wreck everything the first time (it was closer than you'd think) so he won't the second time. Some people just have no idea. But there are dark times ahead.
Deeply affordable homes with supports are the only proven way to end homelessness. Every neighbourhood needs them. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
It looks like a lot of the serious issues have already been covered by other Starter Packs, so I threw together some of the funny and quirky big accounts at the old place:

Twitter, as we knew it, no longer exists. “X” is a cesspool of misinformation and propaganda.
I’ve been reluctant to put a lot of energy into a “Twitter alternative” because none of them have taken off.
But I hope we can regain that global conversation someplace again. Maybe this is the place.
