I absolutely guarantee that the BBC will do nothing about this.
@jolyon.goodlawproject.org I’m absolutely convinced Stonewall have just put the final nail in their coffin by pandering to these people. I know they’ve been struggling before, but it’s going to be far worse now. Any suggestions as to how we can help our community now?
It’s going to kill them as an organization. I’ve heard comments from so many people that they’re cancelling their support.
Not sure what went on there. I found another post to quote and reposted my thoughts.
Unfortunately last time they made one it didn’t sell very well at all. I think that’s partly because they marketed it as a cheaper smaller option rather than making it top of the range in other ways, but it does seem like the market just doesn’t support small phones :(
Yeah I would guess they are. Forty years of goodwill gone overnight. What a hugely damaging thing to do. Still, at least they’ll have an answer about what our community believes in and wants.
Hello, 1 am a 53 year old gay man who has respected your work since your organization was founded. During the HIV/AIDS crisis in the late eighties I was a teenager and experienced all the demonization, homophobia and bigotry that period was known for. I recent read your new leader's comments about JK Rowling and have seen that she has been praised by Maya Forrester and Kathleen Stock, people who have recapitulated all the bigotry I experienced as a teenager on a new generation of trans people.
I understand that it is in the English character to try and be reasonable in difficult circumstances. And I understand that Stonewall has been attacked and demonized by the right wing media in recent years, but nonetheless I'm sorry to say this but I will no longer be able to support your organization in any way. You have very seriously lost your way. If you are not standing up against these people, then your organization has no value or, frankly, values. We do not back down to these people. Ever. Tom
If you’re interested in what I wrote to them, it’s attached below.
When you go to their website they have an email address you can contact. If you write to it they say that service is no longer supported. The only way to contact them is via their press office. I don’t expect to get a response.
It’s interesting how much Stonewall doesn’t want to hear from the general public at the moment. They have abandoned Twitter and BlueSky. They redirect you to follow them on Instagram but that’s not been updated in ages. You can DM them there but they respond saying they don’t read the messages.
I will not support a @stonewalluk.bsky.social that celebrates JK Rowling and is praised by Maya Forrester and Kathleen Stock.
Huh.
I agree with this completely. Kathleen Stock is celebrating them on the Times as well.
God this is depressing. This is not a stonewall I feel comfortable with.
Genuinely think it’s the best value TV subscription I pay a month.
Dude, I wanted my brain eaten.
Hm. I’m only into *some* of that.
I’d be good at CEOing. Assuming it’s having whims and telling people stuff, which I think it is.
One of the best things about YouTube premium is that I get all the late night show’s monologues, on the night, with no ads, often played automatically in a row by my Apple TV.
I mean their current laptops with Apple silicon are some of the most powerful on the market.
I would be absolutely delighted if in decades to come you became known as the most distinguished living portrait artist of chickens.
Homepod TV soundbar with built in Apple TV. Plus a little iPhone for my grumpy old friends who complain all the time.
Combined HomePod, Apple TV in the form of a TV soundbar. Also a little iPhone for my grumpy friends.
San Francisco is a warzone.
This graphic shows how successful the JCPOA was, which cost US taxpayers nothing but Obama signed it. Can we please stop electing racist dickwads?
Here are the cast announced SO FAR-
There are lots of random products being made here that no one needs. Pretty sure I’ve made a bunch of them. But that’s not the same as being blind to normal people’s needs. I mean no one needed social media, until everyone has it. Same with iPhones. Same with email. Same with streaming.
Technology has got more capital intensive to develop too and they’re playing for games 5-20 years out. It doesn’t even matter to many of them if they meet a normal need today - the question is will they license their self driving technology to every car in 10-15 years time (for example).
