"The people I thought would be in this side are on another side ! How could this happen??" It's the world practically screaming at you to finally update your priors, that's what's happening!

An autistic man has been left horrified after looking online for information about his special interest, only to find that the wiki’s editors are clearly nowhere near autistic enough to satisfy his need for detail, eyewitnesses have reported.
The overwhelming ethos of Trumpism is “bully who can dish it out but can’t take it”
This is logical, extreme endpoint of doomerism, by the way. Not merely believing things are bleak (which can be true depending on the situation), but this deeply warped, misanthropic outlook where Brianna believes eugenicist genocide is more likely to happen than trans liberation.
Look, the political situation is bad but I love my life. I have a wonderful loving partner, a great career, great friends, and amazing family.
It all starts with accepting yourself for who you are and finding joy.
She needs serious help. To even get to the point of publicly suggesting that takes some seriously deranged thinking.
Screenshot of a social media post by Brianna Wu (@BriannaWu) that reads: "One of my biggest hopes for the future is that we can come up with some sort of test in utero to determine if a child is going to grow up to be transsexual, and then opt them out of the gene pool. It's, I can tell you firsthand, it's a horrific way to grow up, one that no ethical person should want to inflict on a child. The reason the trans community is so unstable online is the developmental damage that we invariably get. It's like a house being built where every floor is leaning, and by the time you get to the top, the entire structure is unstable. Repairing that damage has taken me a lifetime."
Brianna Wu advocates for the extermination of trans people by engaging in eugenicist selective abortions of fetuses determined to be trans.
He's a liar and a killer. I don't know what else to tell people, he's a rich eugenicist, he wants as many poor people as possible to die in the name of 'health.' He's a genuinely and uniquely malign figure in American life and his appointment was an act of violence
No need to apologize! I was gonna find out about Brianna's insane eugenics dream sooner or later anyway
well-put crystallization of where many of the AI worries arise, at least for me. also applies to the “my coworker now emails exclusively through ChatGPT” case
A brown bunny stands on a stool in a library aisle, reaching up to books on a shelf. The text overlay reads "Found this guy in my library."
Nature is healing
one of the worst fates that can befall the discussion around a character is a situation where straight men make trap jokes over her 24/7 and queer people insist she is nothing more than gnc male and that reading her as trans is regressive
I've legitimately never seen someone so self-loathing on that level before. I don't think even outright TERFs have advocate for anti-trans eugenics before, and that crowd has had some VERY evil proposals about what they want to do to trans people.
WTF
Don't let this pass, everyone.
It’s hard to overemphasize how bad twitter is now. Someone sends me a stupid roon crash out over @radishharmers.bsky.social and the replies are worst than the nastiest 4chan boards at their apex. Like really, it’s so much worse. This shit is storm front and info wars forums.

The conversations are always going past each other because the concerns are fundamentally different.
The latter group is less concerned about the utility of these tools and far more concerned with a public who can't see the AI companies are just building spicy, fraudulent SaaS platforms.
Re: the current moment
Perhaps a big disconnect comes from the gap between "people who can see through the hype and are assessing utility in a post-hype environment" and "people who know how dangerous the hype is precisely because being able to see through it is actually pretty rare in humans"
One of the paradoxes of the current era is that even with all of these social media sites for our use there's much less room for self-expression on our own personal profiles, since the emphasis has shifted from the user as an individual to the user as a content consumer.
The year is 1969. Man lands on the moon. Back on Earth, the Concorde flies its first test for a commercial supersonic airline.
The year is 2026. Man circles the moon and will, a few years later, land. Back on Earth, there is a concept of a plan for commercial supersonic flights.
Reminds me of this post: AI is so hyped up that it's reached many people who have been entirely unaware of the world of automation over the past 40-50 years, and so they think it's something entirely brand new that needs LLMs.
“I used AI to combine the data from two excel lists and then send emails to people who were on one list but not another. Saved me so much time.”
My brother in academia, you just fucking discovered mail merge. Welcome to early nineties computing.
The bunnies have also returned to town for springtime!

Piss off all your employees with this One Simple Trick. Computer users HATE it!
I couldn't help myself
need a site that summarizes all AI news as "you're paperclips now" or "you're not paperclips yet"
