'Connections: Part 1' is a striking display of fabric blood bags designed as part of a collaboration with The Blood Bag Project. @jinikim.bsky.social and Leigh Bowser travelled to Japan and Korea to host workshops where these blood bags were carefully crafted.

I had a wonderful time at the launch of 'Blood: Ties & Tensions' last night! @hematopolitics.bsky.social have been working closely with @thackraymuseum.bsky.social to put together a brilliant display of objects, stories, and art pieces that bright to light the significance of our blood.
Three Hematopolitics researchers stood outside an art installation within the exhibition space.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended tonight’s exhibition launch! We had an amazing time networking with everyone involved in the production of ‘Blood: Ties and Tensions’. We can’t wait to see what you all think of it!
My article 'Between Moscow and Geneva: The Soviet Red Cross and the International Red Cross Movement' is out in the Journal of Global History. It explores the mutually beneficial relationship between the Soviet Red Cross & the League of Red Cross Societies during the Cold War tinyurl.com/yck3xzsc
A photo of a single bottle in a museum display case. The case is entangled in a web of blood red threads framing the object within. It is a glass milk bottle-style receptacle with a rubber stopper and orange rubber tubing poking through it.
The first blood collection in 1930s Britain was stored in reused milk bottles. The milk bottle design remained standard until the NHS introduced blood bags in 1975.
The bottles were nicknamed "the Janet Vaughan" after the doctor who helped set up the first national blood bank.
And that’s not the only exhibition launch…
We’re very proud to share the pilot version of our digital exhibition, ‘“It’s in our blood: Identity, Blood Donation, and Transfusion’.
