I use an ipad mini 6 on an adjustable stand and its been way better for me than my giant screen tablet or drawing tablet (I also had wrist/back issues from repetitive motion on those) The ipad is also small enough I can take it wherever and hold it at any angle like a sketchbook. It works for me!
