Now Canada has robust laws protecting the LGBTQ+ community. The Human Rights Act prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression (since 2017), while same-sex marriage has been legal since 2005. Furthermore, the Criminal Code prohibits conversion therapy.

Today, Amnesty International releases our State of the World's Human Rights report – warning the world is on the brink of a perilous new era.
If leaders won’t hold themselves to account, we will.

The view captures tall trees with a carpet of bluebells for company. In the middle of the image a member of the public is walking focused on his mobile phone. The lesson, do not forget to look up!
I was in the process of framing a view and the gentleman captured walked across my lens. I decided to capture the image. Bluebells. Catch them when you can for they will not last!

“To the North”
Sunrise / Mt Abrupt, The Grampians, Australia .
A recent catchup with my son Mitch - a w/e at The Grampians. A hike up Mt Abrupt - we did the same in 2017, to the summit.
The view to the North is just stunning!

Prime Minister Carney meets with students at Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario.
The best days in Parliament are when we can see it through the eyes of young people.
Thank you to the teachers of Nepean’s Chapman Mills Public School for bringing your Grade 5 students to West Block last week. It was so much fun to show them around and take a few very thoughtful questions.
So much of our language reflects
the common “car first” bias around our streets, & we should never forget that much of that language was the result of deliberate campaigns to specifically re-write our perspective of streets as “for cars only.” This is one of the more subtle, but important, examples.

Tesla saved $400 million on its federal taxes by shifting billions of its U.S. profits to countries with lower tax rates.
Yes: While you paid your taxes in full, giant corporations maneuvered to pay as little as possible — and it’s all perfectly legal for them.
The system is rigged.
Happy to share some positive things!
A true difficult tiny Chinese "puzzle," like life itself, in which we spend most of our time undoing, redoing, correcting, and learning from our experiences…

A mass shooting that took the lives of eight children should stop this country in its tracks. Instead, the Shreveport tragedy disappeared from the headlines in a day. We cannot allow this level of violence to fade into background noise. Ending America’s gun‑violence epidemic is a moral oblligation.

Yesterday, I had announced that I was tired and might take a nap after I had lunch. After eating, I told my husband I was going to take a nap. He told me he'd preheated my side of the bed by turning on my electric blanket 20 minutes earlier.
I have a great husband.
Obama: "We are living in a time where it can be hard to hope. Each day we wake up to some new assault on our democratic institutions. Another setback to the idea of the rule of law ... but this man - Rev. Jesse Jackson - inspires us to take a harder path ... bc if we don't step up, nobody else will"
Last weekend, I drove across the Golden Gate Bridge to Tiburon in the north. It's a quiet, upper-middle-class community, and you can overlook downtown San Francisco from the hilltop.

My partner still has basically no money, has a basic working class job. For a lot of women having a lot of money is part of their criteria in a man. My partner is hugely generous with everything he does have with me. We fell in love when we were both young with nothing. I don't need him to be rich.
Not all cries for help are loud.
There’s a silent signal everyone should know.
Thumb tucked. Fingers folded.
It means “I need help”
