Now the festival only has to get accepted by Steam too .. cross your fingers!
yes
You are an eternal well of wisdom (and the album is still amazing)
The tiniest bit of tuning sometimes makes a huge difference. Like making the shiny edges on the side of the tiles a tiny bit wider to give it a more physical appearance. Video games are full of tiny details like that.
Interesting analysis of China in terms of games industry by an investor and an industry veteran. Finally people are waking up to how much they've caught up over there. Gonna only accelerate from there! open.spotify.com/episode/3YzS...

Oh!
I wouldn't want to swim in any of the two :P
Thank you so much!
Really sophisticated puzzles like good cryptic crosswords also support a very playful approach to language. Their solution space is vast and cracking them in a purely deductive way is often not even possible because language is inherently vague.
That's maybe the reason why randomisation is such a powerful tool in the designer's hands in highly structured games like e.g. card games. They are tiny procedural puzzle machines that support a more playful approach than completely planned through types of games.
Now where Adrian is correct is that a lot of puzzle games lend themselves to a very solution-oriented mindset and as such they often elicit less playfulness than more free-form (i.e. less deterministic) games – those that have a higher toy-factor.
Yes exactly. Playfulness comes from the activity of interacting with a structure. That structure can be a puzzle or a different kind of challenge. The definition of a puzzle is that there is a predetermined solution and I'd say puzzles can be solved without playfulness too.
No because puzzles are a structure whereas playfulness is an aspect of an activity. You can puzzle playfully just like you can methodically play music. I always found doing math, for example, quite playful.
Oh, and switching to 21st Century technologies, rather than continually extending the long fossil century, also improves people's lives, creates jobs and helps prevent climate breakdown. But who gives a damn about such details?
New demo patch allows you to bask in your former glory. How good is that?
To me it seems like: Ink if you want the script to drive the game, Yarn if you want the game to drive the script, Twine if you want to think visually.
Have they tried turning him off and on again?
So say we all
You really make me want to replay them. Been a very long time.
Yes and also Waterworld.
Captured by the Artemis II crew during their lunar flyby on April 6, 2026, this image shows the Moon fully eclipsing the Sun. From the crew’s perspective, the Moon appears large enough to completely block the Sun, creating nearly 54 minutes of totality and extending the view far beyond what is possible from Earth. The corona forms a glowing halo around the dark lunar disk, revealing details of the Sun’s outer atmosphere typically hidden by its brightness. Also visible are stars, typically too faint to see when imaging the Moon, but with the Moon in darkness stars are readily imaged. This unique vantage point provides both a striking visual and a valuable opportunity for astronauts to document and describe the corona during humanity’s return to deep space. The faint glow of the nearside of the Moon is visible in this image, having been illuminated by light reflected off the Earth. [alt text from NASA]
The #Artemis II astronauts said they needed more superlatives to describe their view of the eclipse, when the Sun was behind the Moon and its near surface was faintly illuminated by Earthshine
Yes it’s amazing!
Lovely to read. I remember both jams you’re talking about. Couldn’t join that Exile sadly.
Is that the real DLSS5?
Thank you! Yes let's all cross our talons!
Preview for those who don't have Insta (like me .. in a way .. oh I have it I just never go there)
I am humming our soundtrack in the shower by now. That's how good it is.
