Yep it was built by us, before I joined the company. It was really a very bare bones tool with a basic feature set (list your pens, edit, run, save) so I don’t imagine it was very costly. It ran on top of existing infrastructure for internal tools at Stripe.
Yeah! Sailpen was just our internal version of codepen that had all of our components available for prototyping. Folks could write some code, preview it live, and share a link to others. Every example in our docs site could be opened there for quick remixing.

Why is there no good personal database software built into modern operating systems?
Collecting and organizing information is relegated by most users to proprietary, online tools like Notion or Airtable. Where is the offline first, file-based solution for this sort of thing?
