@radiant.computer Can you tell me more about the hero image on your site? Was it created for the project or a reference to some existing work?

Software invites fiddling—customizing, configuring, tweaking—but fiddling with LLMs is less like software and more like musical instruments.

Yep it was built by us, before I joined the company. It was really a very bare bones tool with a basic feature set (list your pens, edit, run, save) so I don’t imagine it was very costly. It ran on top of existing infrastructure for internal tools at Stripe.

Yeah! Sailpen was just our internal version of codepen that had all of our components available for prototyping. Folks could write some code, preview it live, and share a link to others. Every example in our docs site could be opened there for quick remixing.

Building a private & personal cloud computer | Chase McCoy Chase McCoy explores, builds, & writes about the web.

This year I started using a Mac mini as a private server for hosting my own software on the web. It's accessible anywhere in the world, but only to me. Here's how you can create your own cloud computer:

Building some data visualizations at Era this week. The one shown here—especially the target range text curving along the path with the pattern cut out behind it—was particularly fun.

@kottke.org do you ever get the itch to bring Stellar back now that there's a renewed interest in open protocols for media like AT protocol (Bluesky), ActivityPub (Mastodon), RSS, etc.?

Why is there no good personal database software built into modern operating systems?

Collecting and organizing information is relegated by most users to proprietary, online tools like Notion or Airtable. Where is the offline first, file-based solution for this sort of thing?
