The city falls quiet as the last of the twilight is snuffed by the smoke rising from the ruin. Seyfried's face, moments ago a contorted mask of rage, now sits still, frozen, the only light left coming from the glow of dying flames in the wreckage he left behind, and what little remains of that manages to climb into the smog and get trapped inside. Cinders fly past, and a hand, aged and adorned with precious stones set in gold rings, reaches up and cups the man's cheek, but his eyes remain unfocused and distant. The Automaton King kneels amidst Armoroad's ruined streets, defeated and unresponsive; unreachable to the old woman. Still, through the sting of her tears, and the heat and particulate blown in the breeze, Flowdia maintains her gaze on his lifeless vestige.

Sadness is my enemy; I fear time will age him gently.

A young Seyfried and Flowdia meet on the hanging bridge of a garden overlooking the sea. Seyfried puts a waling-waling in Flowdia's hair and smiles wordlessly, the gesture eliciting a mirthful giggle from the latter. ... Now an old woman, Flowdia is gripped by horror at the sight of the long-lost king, seemingly unaged after one hundred years. His face, though unchanged by time, is now unrecognizable to her as flames pour in and illumine every harsh line of his deep scowl.

Lightning crackles through the red sky and clouds roll in close to the ground. The dreamer holds a drum under one arm and a stick to beat it with in the other hand. UPPER RIGHT: The Hat & Scarf Effect. The lilac dreamer, wearing a knitted hat and scarf, dresses a snowman with its own matching attire. The ground is covered in a light layer of snow, and a few pine trees can be seen some distance away. LOWER: A chibi doodle of our avatars, designed to be a spin on the protagonist Madotsuki. The characters are patterned after the protagonist Madotsuki, customized to differentiate and represent my partner's avatar and mine in the game. UPPER LEFT: A closeup shot of the avatars. The dreamers, one lilac and one red, hold hands as they nap sitting up, just as Madotsuki's sprite falls asleep in a similar position after a certain amount of time. They are on the balcony and are seated in front of the outdoor AC unit. The lilac dreamer's back is to the railing, where orange light from the setting sun shines through. LOWER LEFT: The two are seated on the floor of the bedroom. The red dreamer sits behind the lilac dreamer and braids the other's hair. Meanwhile, the lilac dreamer is hunched over the bed, playing a game on a Nintendo DS. There are glow-in-the-dark stars pasted on the walls, though this is not faithful to canon. LOWER RIGHT: The dreamers navigate a pitch black world with only the soft glow of their recorders to light the way. The unperturbed red dreamer leads the fearful lilac dreamer by the hand. (Based on a moment in-game wherein we entered the Dark World without the Lamp Effect. We used the Flute Effect, which produces glowing notes when played, to keep track of each other's location.)
