Afraid not. Thus the so-called “career pivot”. Our country doesn’t see art as an essential role.

Yeah, the jobs from the previous industry I used to work in don't exist anymore. I'm currently pursuing a degree in an entirely different field.

Good news, I landed a 2-month paid internship at a relatively reputable entity for my semester break. The brand will no doubt aid in my career pivot, and I'm looking forward to learning more from their communications manager.

I wish I had the generosity of heart to be a cheerleader for others. There had been a dearth of role models in my youth and the adults were disappointing — which is why I ended up creating my own heroes. I’ve found that I observed and learned more about kindness from cultures abroad than back home.

During my early years, I made the mistake of meeting one of my heroes and that did not turn out well as the saying goes. It was pretty affecting and I don’t simp for folks anymore. Working here has also colored my lens differently. I think I’m more keen for real friendships vs. chasing celebrities.

It’s difficult for me to root for the success of strangers. I’m more reserved for closer friends. I was never afforded a culture of support and encouragement in my country or family. I probably reached out more while I was in art college. These days, the “like” button is probably the easiest for me.

It's funny you brought this up! This episode left a lasting impression on me (with indescribable feels) and it's still one of my biggest influences today.

Happily and pleasantly reminds me of a memory of a short from the old Pink Panther Show (1969) that I saw in reruns as a kid - the classic muscle beach episode.
