Just had an excellent workshop on gender and security with my fantastic colleague Louise Pears and my outstanding #GenderStudies students @cigsleeds.bsky.social!!
Just loving the teaching this year!!
A presenter points to the smartboard, which shows an illustration of the back of a jeep or truck with a figure standing beside it and a tree behind. 14 audience members are shows, sitting around tables in a horseshoe layout, all attentively looking towards the presenter and screen.
Two hands are shown stitching green and yellow thread onto green card. Another hand is shown in an expressive gesture, palm turned upwards and fingers spread out. Papers, some with notes, some with printed pictures/words, and bundles of thread are strewn across two tables, along with coffee cups and biscuit packets.
Last week, @cigsleeds.bsky.social hosted "Tracing Threads: Queer Storytelling Through Embroidery", a special workshop organised by Yuri Fraccaroli (Visiting Postgraduate Researcher in CIGS/SSP) to celebrate queer memory.
Watch this space for photos of the final pieces from the workshop coming soon!
