This seems so impossible. I still hang on to one or two pieces of Canadian made clothing and the quality is way beyond what you can typically buy nowadays.

I absolutely love this quote. By the final book it really reads like a war novel, and it’s even more powerful when you consider Tolkien’s WWI experiences. It’s a beautiful reminder to consider the possibility that the decisions made by “little” people matter even more than those of the powerful.

Nothing is perfect, but it’s light years better than a total monopoly.

WOW!! I think I was even one of the people who suggested this to you! I’m still trying to fully make this transition. It doesn’t help when many workplaces force the nightmare that is outlook upon us.

I think one simple answer is that it’s a lot more difficult for rich people to profit. Why don’t we produce solar panels in Canada? Nobody would willingly choose to build production capacity where they will need to create high paying jobs, look after the environment, and respect basic rights.

The vitriol in this comment section accomplishes nothing. If you cease to look for common ground, you are not qualified to be a senator. Even in these difficult times we should seize every possible opportunity to do good, no matter how small.

Any chance you could run for PM instead? I’m still waiting to see the major parties show the courage to stand up for our country.

Honest question: Can you think of a mechanism by which being less nice can help to make a better future?

One of the most frustrating parts is the wasted labour supply that is clearly willing to put in some thought and effort for a relatively modest wage. We honestly can’t think of anything more useful to pay these people for?

Try to take some satisfaction in the good things even when you’re feeling like shit. It’s hard, but I’m trying to implement that myself. Stay unplugged as long as needed to respect your limits.

I like the flying comparison because little else comes close and the climate could benefit.
If it’s any consolation, your rebuttal video got me to subscribe and I’m not someone who usually ends up on art channels. love your videos, and I got to tour the last windmill in Europe still producing paint.

It’s the little wins that make life special. I have a PhD, but I’m more likely to feel satisfaction from repairing my wife’s phone case or sorting the recycling.
