Fury and Flame
to restore equity and justice in the United States
Sing me a song of fury and flame
Help me strip power from all those to blame:
The jack-booted soldiers who choke out Black life;
The foul, frenzied redhats who sow hate and strife
The passive, prim neighbors who never speak out;
The incels, the dudebros who only chase clout
The rich and the privileged who gatekeep the world
The assholes who scorn every Pride flag unfurled
The gun-toting killers that no one will stop
Each white-power lawman and each dirty cop
Corrupt politicians β too many to name
Child-diddling preachers too righteous to shame
Topple their towers and empires of greed;
Tear down their systems till all souls are freed
The bathroom policers, the book-banning lot:
Cast all into foulness and leave them to rot
Perform this spell with a single dried bay leaf, a vessel of water, and a
source of flame. Create a sigil representing all the corrupt and destructive people and forces named in the song. Draw this sigil upon the bay leaf. Have the small vessel of water nearby. Light the bay leaf. Blow out the fire so you donβt burn your hand, but allow the leaf to smolder as you hold it, nurturing its embers with your breath as you read the poem. When you reach the end, quench whatever is left of the leaf in the water, then crumble it into your compost pile or a similar heap of trash.
