In a desperate attempt to force this Japanese game to pronounce Japanese words correctly, I changed my Switch to Japanese, fixed some words, then set my Switch back to English. The game does not like that. Fantastic

Whenever I drive somewhere to take pictures I sometimes take a picture the rocker panels on my car disintegrating. These two pictures were taken over a year apart btw, 1st one is Feb 28 2025 and the 2nd was a couple days ago (Mar 8 2026)

Somehow I have written almost 5,000 words. Not sure how long the video's going to end up being but it's probably gonna be long. Gonna finish more of the script before I start recording footage and doing voiceover

Color me purple โ Some color developer formulas including C41 and RA4 โ Koraks tinkers
I'm using the Bonavolta formula that I saw on this blog post because it's the simplest but there's some more I haven't tried

Works fine for me with prints at room temp with a lower sulfite content and without hydroxide as the author suggests

For a while I've been thinking about making an Attic Darkroom style video going over my reversal process but despite how it seems I am not very much of a writer lmao

Hilariously, the first roll of Lomo Purple I shot and developed in ECN-2 as a negative was a grainy mess with terrible dynamic range (IMO) and I was ready to dismiss the film as garbage. For some reason this positive roll has way finer grain and more dynamic range

Shot it at ISO 100 and went with HC-110 A for 10 minutes at 105F with gentle agitation (30 seconds initial then 10 seconds every minute). For the color dev I used homemade RA4 paper developer for 5 minutes at 105F. 1st dev wasn't quite long enough cause the final positive is just a bit too dense

A cardinal amongst the foliage
Finally got around to reversal processing my last roll of Lomochrome Purple but I probably should've waited a bit longer. The trees aren't quite green yet around here lmao

Four 35mm film positives on a light table.
Gold 200 on top, Vision3 50D on bottom. The colors are more or less what I see in person

I think Kodak Gold just does that when it's really expired. With a roll of Gold 400 I developed over year ago (as negatives in ECN-2) the base turned green after development but it scans and prints perfectly fine

to be 100% sure (I think it's 2 months old). Bleached & fixed as usual. The 50D is the best result I've gotten so far and the Gold came out very green. Out of curiosity I stuck each roll's leader in the color dev then bleached & fixed. The 50D turned black as expected but the Gold turned dark green

Just for fun I tried a short roll of expired Gold 200 and a roll of Vision3 50D. Dev'd both in the same tank with HC-110A for 9 min at 105F and both looked great. Then did RA4 as the color dev for 3 min. Shone a light through to see if it was done and it didn't seem like it so I did another 5 min

a big set of Spirit 2K film scanners. they look cool as fuck. they're beautiful brushed stainless steel on the sides and a big glass view door to watch the film transport mechanims
they're in a garage
so we rescued a set of cinema film scanners
does anyone need a set of cinema film scanners?
if you have a need for a cinema film scanner (or can give it a good home!), and can arrange to have it transported from the Seattle area, message me on fedi or e-mail me at hello@alyx.sh

A photo of a trashcan with "Please" stenciled on it in large capital block letters. The can is surrounded by snow, and off of a recreational trail that was plowed. Foliage makes up the background
Slide Film Sunday:
I tried inverting some Fuji 200 to positives and it may be my favorite way to experience this film. I did some color correction when scanning and will add a photo of the postives irl.

Used HC-110A for 7 minutes and ECN-2 color dev for 5 minutes at 105F. The highlights looked fine but the midtones and shadows were pretty dark. Color probably didn't dev fully either. Next time I'll try RA4 paper dev to be absolutely sure it's fully developed

Shot the first roll a few days ago at box speed and it looks okay. Definitely needed more time in the 1st developer though and my color developer was probably a bit too old. Got a few good slides at least

I definitely need to get some real slide mounts cause I've been using 3D printed ones. Had to superglue them together and sand them down a bit to stop the projector from jamming. Discovered that PEC-12 can kinda remove superglue from film but it smears some of it around and makes a huge mess. Whoops

Cross processed slides on C-41 or ECN-2 film look great on a light table but when projected they get kinda washed out looking. It is very cool to see though. With one of my Vision3 50D slides, I can't see the grain even if I'm close to the screen. Very impressive

Got a slide projector recently and it's interesting to see the difference between my cross processed positives and actual slide film (specifically 90s Ektachrome and 70s Kodachrome). I knew that negative film can't get as dense as slide film but the difference in contrast is staggering

A picture of my cat mounted in a slide labeled "Niagara Falls, A.F. from Prosp. Pt. Obs. Twr. GAF Pana-Vue Slide"
Also got some more of those crappy souvenir slides that turned red alongside the discarded memories of a stranger (plus a slide projector). Was able to get the mount apart without breaking it lmao

So... selenium toned more bleach bypassed color prints (which I had scans of before toning) and it does not do very much. Black level was set before clipping on the un-toned print (left) and white level was set with the paper border. I think the toned print is ever so slightly darker? Hard to tell

Funny enough the best use I found for it so far is with very underdeveloped and/or underexposed black and white film. It's taken negatives that were very thin and made them dense enough to be printable in a darkroom. Main downside IMO is the noxious fumes. Similar ammonia smell to rancid cat piss
