Church in Cologne as seen from balcony
View of German countryside from train's window
After 5 hours of train β€οΈ, here I am in Cologne, ready to tackle Gamescom 2025 πͺ
And look what a beautiful church I can look at from my hotel's room window π
See you soon everyone π

A first real look at my top-down shooter mech game! I've been working hard to get it looking better so it's great to finally show it off.

My deepest congratulations for taking the first step and sharing your work with others.
The prototype is looking good, best of luck πͺ
If I may say something, first comes the design, don't over focus on art or you will redo stuff once you swap ideas.

A wood panel with paper on it, that shows a list of rows, each one detailing a specific action executed by a unit. The ones shown are: attacks, activation of effects, or death.
Right now only some actions made by the units are shown, but I am working towards supporting everything πͺ
What do you think, can you understand what happened by looking at the image?
Have a nice day =)

Then I began working on the new Battle Report popup, which should be used by the players to know more about the last fight and how each of their unit performed in it.
It took me a while, but with shamelessly duplicating the same smoke FX I was able to produce a decent animation π

Found the time to improve my game a bit the last week, and so I started with the choosing of units.
Before it was pretty boring, with the cards simply disappearing, now they swing out of the way π¨, which I think is much more dynamic and engaging π

Steam page of the game Raising Legion, showing the release date as "To be announced"
Quick update, as I expected the game is still "To be announced" π
Ofc, when I will upload a build I will have to keep in mind the release date has already passed π

Now I am stuck waiting for the @steampowered.com support to answer my ticket, but I am fairly confident they will not release a game without a build π
Who knows π€·ββοΈ we will see at 9:00 PM π€

Steamworks dashboard showing me an error due to my game having no approved build, but scheduled to release today.
When I started developing my game more than a year ago, I jokingly set the release date to 31-12-2024, and it is... today.
Time sure flies π
I honestly believed I would have been done in 6 months, but there is still much to do π©

How to use Steamβs UTM feature to track the number of wishlists and sales your marketing is generating β How To Market A Game
I recalled them only recently, and an article by Chris Zukowski helped me realize their usefulness: howtomarketagame.com/2021/04/14/h...
We will see how it goes π€

Marketing update:
I want to try using UTM in my game's store links, and therefore I am updating all of them, like this:
store.steampowered.com/app/2933310/...
They allow attributing the direct visits to your page.

Hey, being home for the Christmas holidays, I found the time to continue working on my game "Raising Legion".
And now the player can manually destroy their unwanted units π₯
The currency spent can be gained from effects of units or finishing an encounter.

So, in the end, adding more tags to reach the max of 20 didn't have positive impacts, but luckily neither negatives.
As of now I am short of ideas, so if you have some to share feel free to comment π

Steam game "Visits Over Time" graph for the last 2 weeks.
Marketing update:
A week and some has passed since I added more tags to my game, so let's check the results.
The avg amount of visits didn't change, while the % of impressions coming from the Tag Page increased, at the cost of the Click-thru Rate.

Definitely an improvement π
Having different shapes AND colors for the points is great for accessibility, have you checked against the most common color blindnesses?

colorful key splash art for Project Dragon- a group of adventurers (a musical ocarina golem, a rider mounted on a wyvern, a dimunutive cat person and a pet pinoceros) crest a hill over a sun-drenched landscape with billowing clouds and distant ruins. In the sky above, a character composed of constellations spreads their 6 arms and welcomes them to the world.
Just before things started to nosedive on twitter, I posted a thread that walked through the massive body of work I did over the last three years (on an inspiring team) on the cancelled Project Dragon aka Everhaven.
For posterity I reckon I'll repost that thread, piece by piece, over here β¨

For me it is nr3, more coherent.
But the nr2 has the pro of always remaining readable π

Having the icon stay the same size is a bit unnatural given the fact the button is being scaled.
I would test the non-border version with the scaling icon before deciding π€

Assets? No low is too low for devs you want to release their game π
Jokes aside, I'm no artist, nor I can make sound, voice acting, UX, & a thousand other things, so I will trust others to do it.
It is called collaboration π
