For a thousand years, we human beings have behaved as if our actions had no consequences for the well-being of the Earth. Now, global heating and the climate crisis are forcing us to take our relationship with nature more seriously. These challenges affect us all. They mean that we must take the whole of humanity and the entire planet into account. May this COP30 meeting result not just in more talk but action.

I see that the United States' peculiar brand of Christian Nationalism includes judging the poor for needing SNAP benefits (judging is something Jesus said *not to* do) but not helping the poor with SNAP benefits (helping the poor is something Jesus told them *to* do).

one of the underlying factors in all the Epstein stuff is that his correspondents - even the ones who likely did not participate in abuse themselves - are completely incapable of imagining his victims as people. he is real to them, the girls aren't.

So, hang on, in the election last year, the Republican candidate got 30%. In the special election open primary this year, Democrats got 78%, and Republicans only got 14.8%?

I know it's "midterms" but cutting the result in half is a disaster for GOP. No wonder they are planning to cheat.

That’s a strong perspective. I’m curious though what do you think actually keeps people locked into that kind of mindset? It feels like there’s more going on beneath the surface than just politics. I’d like to hear how you see it.

Trump isn’t faking a personality disorder. So long as he keeps the spell going his supporters have a license to deny reality and feel validated. Facts they don’t like can be dismissed as fake news. Guilt over some awful thing they’ve done can be justified by “demonrat” policies. They want the lie.
