I don't recall seeing a 48-star flag at DKR before

I see something similar in physics - students do fine if the task is pattern matching to things they've explicitly seen, but have difficulty integrating multiple concepts. (My personal suspicion is they're trained for the former because it's the easiest way to get K-12 test scores up.)

This report came out today by minority staff of the House science committee on how three NASA missions were aborted due to NASA illegally following the FY26 president's budget request instead of congressionally approved budget. Very important reading. 🔭🧪 democrats-science.house.gov/staff-report...

The GSA's per diem rates for the UK are wild. For Edinburgh, in the summer you're allowed £460 a night for hotel and £130 for food and incidentals

Perfect illustration of the problem of being asked to have full-spectrum viewpoint diversity that incorporates every & any claim as a valid part of serious academic debate. We can either do that, or we can be actual scholars/universities. Some things are just lies & detached from empirical reality.

It’s been fun the past few years, having people lie or be useful idiots about how Anti DEI is just about merit and not a backdoor whites only policy and then insist those of us who saw that clearly are shrill or paranoid
