I was reminded today that the NHL season expands to 84 games next year. My money is on the Blue Jackets being in a playoff spot after game 82 then falling out by game 84. Fans will say "we'd be in the playoffs right now if it was still an 82 game schedule!"

Great article here. Accurately describes how a significant number of fans are probably feeling. The only thing I would add is how the Johnny Gaudreau tragedy affected the team's trajectory. #CBJ
Please explain. I have been at work and must have missed something. Was this stated at the press conference?
Thank you!
According to puckpedia, the no movement clause kicks in next season. Hypothetically speaking, can Garland be traded before next season? Does anyone know how that works? Just curious. #CBJ
Plus he's signed until like 2032 with a no movement clause until 2029. And he'll be making $6 million per season next year which, as the moment, would make him the team's highest paid forward. I wish I looked at his contract details when the Jackets traded for him because this looks terrible.
Heck yeah! Go Bones! #CBJ
Totally agree. Misery loves company. I appreciate all my fellow #CBJ fans here on Blue Sky as well. I don't know any of you personally, but it is definitely comforting to have you here to chat with. It will be even better when we finally have something to celebrate together someday!
Thank goodness it's over. #CBJ
Embarrassing...but well deserved.
This is how I feel as well. The only other team sport I follow is football, but only casually. I grew up in New England so I call myself a Patriots fan but I would trade all their Super Bowls for a Jackets playoff run. Hockey is my passion. Not having a playoff team to cheer for right now hurts.
Sounds about right.
My dad sent me, my sister (a Ranger fan), and my brother (a Predator fan) this. Funny, but also very sad.
I am not ready to give up on KJ, especially with his VERY team-friendly contract. I want to see if he can rebound next season. If not, see ya. But I'm with you on the others. I would definitely not be opposed to trading Monahan and Provorov, but they have no-trade clauses.
Watched Anze Kopitar's farewell speech to the fans after the Kings game. Two Stanley Cups. Consistent scoring threat. What a great career. And the Jackets chose Gilbert Brule. #CBJ
This.
I have you all beat. Fan since their inception. And a Whaler fan before that since 1986. I really don't think it's too much to ask to be able to cheer for a hockey team beyond the second round for once in my life. Yet here I am, in 2026, still asking.
Lol, I turn 50 this year.
Yes! I call myself North America's longest suffering hockey fan after supporting the Whalers and now this team. Hockey is the only sport I am really passionate about. But I can't imagine being a Jackets fan as well as a Browns fan and a Reds fan. Constant suffering, every season of the year.
Lol definitely not!
I always say that's one thing that keeps me going: when the Jackets finally do win it all, the joy we are going to feel is going to far exceed the joy of any other hockey fans ever because we have suffered so much more and far longer than any of them. I just hope I live long enough to see it. #CBJ
I decided I am not spending another dime on this team. No tickets, no shirts, no jerseys, nothing. Told my family the other day: no more #CBJ gifts. I'm not giving this team any more of my money until they right the ship. Tired of spending so much on a team that only gives me heartache in return.
I think the person I am most upset with is myself for once again holding onto hope that this team would find a way. What a fool. #CBJ
I honestly hope the Flyers win tomorrow so this season can officially be put out of its misery. #CBJ
Lol! You are right!
Yes, Kuraly is on their 4th line. At least I thought he was.
But you can add Harris and Peeke to the list of former Jackets sticking daggers into the Jackets.
I just can't believe the Jackets are here, right now, desperate for a goal in the last 3 minutes of the second to last game of the season, desperate for a win when they were in second place a couple of weeks ago. #CBJ
Yup.
Jackets letting the Bruins' 4th line end their season. #CBJ
The way things have gone, I thought for sure Boston would challenge and it would be offsides. Breathed a sigh of relief when the puck dropped again at center ice.
