Happy Armistice Day. Humanity still can overcome war; we must realize that a bayonet is a weapon with a worker (cat) at each end.

A cat poster that is also an anti-war poster designed as a WW1 era poster. Two large soldier cats are fighting with one screaming in anguish as he is stabbed by the other with a bayonet. At the same point at which the bayonet strikes, the point of a large triangle also connects. Within the triangle are two cats in suits (bourgeoisie) clinking glasses and happy. Text reads "A bayonet is a weapon with a worker cat at either end. Betray your country. Serve your class. Don't sign up for war." The poster is meant to convey that the working class should be working together, not fighting one another for the interests of their bourgeoisie.

An ink drawing of seven cats in WW1 uniforms and gear. Blinded from a gas attack and wearing bandages around their faces, six of the cats are lined up in a row holding one another's tail or grasping shoulders. What looks like an officer, without injuries, with his backed turned toward the viewer, is at the front of the line seems to be helping.

What do I myself make of that reply nowadays? It was an inane reply.” (4/4)

Heyy I just quoted some Carol Becker nonsense in my recent bsky thread. I haven't read up on the lawsuit but kudos to you for standing up to her. Out of curiosity, can you countersue for defamation and wasting your time with a frivolous lawsuit?

Donald Trump is trying to criminalize opposition to fascism. What are the real threats—and how can people prepare for them?

We've prepared a zine version of "Make Ready: Safeguarding Our Movements against Repression."

I hope each one of us can help those future ancestors look back and say "I know altruism is real because people risked everything to dismantle the system that would have erased my heritage and future."

But some of us will survive; in time, descendants of survivors of this genocide will know they're also around because even in the face of terror and seemingly overwhelming strength (the entire developed world backing and bankrolling a colonial mass atrocity), many more stood up and risked

but what came to mind for me is "if that was true, I wouldn't be here." My Yiayia survived the holocaust because brave people risked their lives to do what's right, with no chance of personal gain.

Millions have died from choosing to do what's right and stand up to fascists.

Carol Becker, Minneapolis conservative crank and (I think) landlord, once told me that a human right to housing (or any economic need) couldn't possibly work because humans are not naturally altruistic.

This idea is demonstrably false from history to evolutionary biology;

This is why fascists try to erase history and social progress, as Trump is doing now.

the idea that Jews can only be safe if they terrorize their neighbors from a violent ethnostate is one of those absurd contradictions that, once you pull it apart, starts to unravel bigger lies in our society. the greater international system of extractive racial and colonial capitalism relies on

To quote RLM, the empire shows us its weak spots. The blockade, and the places of violence and cruelty, are some of them. Keep shining a light into the darkness. Keep hope.

The whole system of extractive colonial capitalism relies on lies and violence and the hypocrisy,

Deeply moved by Tadgh Hickey's last vid before his abduction by Israeli forces. The abuse, tactics of psychological and total war, employed against the activists of the flotilla are terrifying. Straight up. Everyday heroes saving an innocent from being trafficked into slave labor. We all need to do and see more of this.

How the agents cover their faces and abuse the poor man is awful too. Hopefully more videos exposing this shit will chip away Trumps' approval from ~41% to much less.

3. The JG creates a mechanism
for setting wages and working
standards across the whole
economy. If the JG implements
living wages, a 35 hour
workweek, workplace
democracy, etc., the private
sector will need to match these
standards if they want to retain
staff. This also dramatically
improves workers' bargaining
power.

A jobs guarantee also creates a mechanism for setting wages and working standards, from shorter workweeks to workplace democracy. It has potential to be truly transformative for society while helping us make critical economic changes for human survival in the face of polycrisis.

2. The JG creates a mechanism for
*reorienting* labour toward socially
and ecologically beneficial activities
and *increasing* production where
necessary (renewable energy
development, public transit
expansion, regenerative agriculture,
ecological restoration, care, etc.), so
as to accelerate social and ecological
progress. There's a lot of work to be
done to build a just and ecological
society, and we cannot wait around
for capital to decide it is profitable
enough to employ people to do it!

A jobs guarantee could prevent unemployment from downscaling harmful industries while reorienting labor towards socially and ecologically needed work.

Instagram post by Dr. Jason Hickel reads: "1. The JG creates a mechanism for *preventing* any unemployment that may arise from downscaling ecologically destructive and socially unnecessary industries (eg fossil fuels, SUVs, fast fashion, etc.) Thereby allowing us to undertake such downscaling without the social consequences that currently make this politically undesirable."

Thinking about degrowth and a Jobs Guarantee, and what steps to address climate change, meet human need, and build economic and social democracy, I so appreciate @jasonhickel.bsky.social 's communication and thinking around this. Here are snippets of an Instagram post.
