This week's episode of FRESH INGREDIENTS (Sunday, 7pm on untidyradio.com) features songs by Sea of Days, Shapes Like People, Jonathan Richman, Luke Haines & Peter Buck, Falling and Laughing, Cypress Mine!, Jens Lekman, Mozart Estate, Special Friend... and more
Show 17 of the wobbly-but-enjoyable FRESH INGREDIENTS has drifted through a gallery, had some wine, popped some songs on a piece of paper & by Sunday we'll be good to go. Some lovely songs this week: literate indie, folk, diy scribbles, rambles. Sunday 7pm untidyradio.com Painting by Gwen Johns X
Sad to say we weren't big fans of Make Up is a Lie
But if there are any Morrissey fans who like us miss the literary influences, the pop melodies and the jangely guitars - we've went & recorded this:
Though its got more Rossetti than Wilde

That makes us so happy to hear! Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to it - it really means a lot!
We thought you meant the Morrissey album ๐คฃ We're very happy you meant ours and we're so glad you enjoyed it!
Let us know what you think of it!

Very much holding on to not confusing the artist with the art & how good he used to be. But its a little bit nuts that he once wrote this

Was brilliant, they used our drums and we were right at the front of this tiny venue so was perfect. Though we traded details & our drummer lost them ๐คฃ
I'm really jealous I'd have loved to have seen the Housemartins or the first incarnation of the Beautiful South!
My favourite Heaton track that. Always inspired me that you can write pop melodies to interesting\political lyrics & make it unique.
Was really lucky to have supported him and Jacqui Abbot at his pub in Salford in a previous band!
All Paul! And Mid 60s Beatles but late 80s Beautiful South
Such a wonderful show this.
Great chance to check out the Dame Fawn Denier cover of our track Bower Meadow too!
No problem the whole song is great but vocal melody is........divine. Like a mix of Paul McCartney and Paul Heaton
This @redcavalry.bsky.social song, & the LP that surrounds it, has provided me with one of the best fortnights in my recent memory - a small patch of time just utterly absorbed and thrilled by a band operating at a dazzling level. Wrote about it extensively here:
Is it cheating to just read band's bandcamp profile summaries on the radio? Maybe, but I love that bit of writing Hedge Burners supplied and re-supplied in that last link.
Playing @redcavalry.bsky.social now! This next bit is the heart of the show; two magnificent songs written the same band.
We're working on a song that's about how people become the thing their younger self would hate - the saddest thing is that he's really become that.
We heard clips of I am Veronica he did live a few years back & held out hopes this next album would be a return to form ๐
Will be checking them out when your show is done....rather than the new Morrissey record which I forgot had come out. After hearing the first 2 singles honest dread to think what the rest is like.
That @somehappything.bsky.social is such 60s bliss absolutely love it
