Honestly, I haven't felt lonely since I started sharing my work. The community has been wonderful.
I was an extremely lonely youth, and the memory of that time informs what I write, but I find myself now surrounded by lovely people. I also have a big garden full of wildlife.

Repetition, both on the narrative and syntactic level. I didn't really notice until rereading, but of the eight tales in my new book, half deal with entrapment and isolation by routine. I took this to extremes in one story in which I deliberately pushed all the way into tedium.

Social/psychological/moral.
An excellent example is Cormac McCarthy's work, particularly 'Child of God' and 'Outer Dark'.
Another is Poe's "The Man of the Crowd".

Merely physical isolation is something that I enjoy, though of course it leads to the other kinds if too prolonged.

The Auctioneer is really an unsung masterpiece.

Hello, folks! I'm Travis, founder/editor of Frolic Press, and I write strange stories.
The first favorite work about isolation that comes to mind is the film adaptation of 'Rosemary's Baby'. Isolation so gradual and eventually so total, even in the midst of others. Terrifying.

Neuro… No Neuro :: Were we really there? EP (Self Released) The newest expression, Were we really there?, is a beatless paean to somnambulist mornings at campfire-ember edges, or where the lull of lapping lakes adjacent to preemptive summer sunsets captivate.

No, still slowly working on the novel I started back in winter, which I'll probably be writing for a few years.
But I'm editing several books that will be out this year, as well as writing and recording new music.

She understood, with the particular clarity that attends irreversible things, that answering would constitute a consent she could not afterward withdraw. She did not go out. The window, however, faced the garden. The garden, she gradually realized, was aware of this.

Very much fog, because it's beautiful and, here in Florida, only seen in spring. It's also horrible in a way here, because it portends the brutal, oppressive humidity that will arrive by May.

Hello! I'm Travis and I write strange stories that are often horrible. I suppose my brand is post-surrealism, or irrealism, or fabulism. Or call it dark fantasy, that's fine with me.
What I like most about it is that I can write it. I couldn't write anything else.

Yes, it is. Maybe a slightly different time for you lot over the pond. We're in the in between threshold of time changes.
