!! Historical puppetry? Tell us more?
On Yom HaShaoh, I am reminded that the most common location of death of all the family members for which I know that answer is Auschwitz. And also that Never Again is a constant promise, not a memory.

My job is nether digital nor physical these days: it is almost entirely social or bureaucratic.
But my little act of resistance is I only take paper notebooks to meetings.
Better to lean further into it: I only read articles or books whose last numbered page is even.
I knew about the community but not the job board, so thank you! Form filled.
That's the photo that gets shared for all VA state jobs, for some reason.
It absolutely will, thank you.
Unfortunately, despite this excellent feedback, I can't change a gov job ad once it's out. If the search fails this will be helpful for the next posting. But I can also use this as we imagine how this role evolves, so I do genuinely appreciate it.
Woohoo, here's my essay with my fav co-author on 30,000 fellowship wins across the Guggenheim, Stanford CASBS, NAEd, National Humanities Center, RSF visiting scholar, and Harvard Radcliffe.
Spoiler: it's the people working at prestigious universities

Much obliged! I will take any help or advice offered.
It's a fair point. Ours is a small but effective team, and although this role has a new title it is one we have had filled successfully for many years. Like all of us, this person will be doing a bit of a lot of things, but thankfully they have a roadmap from the previous occupant.
Follow up:
This person will be in one of the teams that reports to me, and although I am not the hiring manager, I am happy to answer any questions.

See in 2005 I had a Palm Treo on which I loaded an offline static copy of all of wikipedia in order to solve this problem.
[I did not solve this problem.]
Surprisingly achievable challenge for the dedicated.
This is wild -- JELLYFISH sleep!
The reason is a good reminder why we all need consistent and restful sleep:

Sailors timed how quickly knots slipped through their fingers on a rope tied to a log and jotted that speed into their "log book."
Soon people "logged" all sorts of important events into their little books.
Including early computer users, who would "log in" to their terminals to mark their use.

I'll say this: every opportunity I get to remember how lucky I was to work with this just bonkers-phenomenal team is a good opportunity. Really just could not be prouder of the work we did together in such a short time.

🫠 happy one year anniversary! 🫠
(if you remember me recently posting another anniversary, this is the second of three: the day we NEH staffers were put on admin leave, the day we were notified we were soon getting fired and couldn't return to work, and the day we actually got fired)
