Really helpful episode!
Please excuse the ancient gel mani
Really recommend (and enjoyed!) this book. Possibly helpful for any leaders who need to gather colleagues to generate ideas, problem solve or otherwise think collectively.
It has a section on creating a sense of ease 💜 so important - false urgency kills thought
It’s time for change. We need to act now.
Email your local MP using our quick online tool and get Government to sit up and listen and end the teacher mental health crisis.
Just two minutes of your time, to create lasting change to thousands of educators.

Wellbeing absences can demonstrate a shift towards healthier cultures that take a preventative approach.
Who wants a culture where pushing through and burning out is championed?
#edusky
Oh yes! Absolutely incredible 😍
Perfectionism is very common among educators.
When we talk about wellbeing habits, we really don’t want it to become another thing to shame yourself with, or an extra ‘to-do’ item.
Give yourself grace, and find your own path. Even if there’s mistakes along the way.

The latest Teacher Wellbeing Index from @edsupportuk.bsky.social illustrates the lack of support schools get from other agencies. Is it any wonder school staff are feeling under increasing pressure? www.educationsupport.org.uk/resources/fo...
Our CEO, Sinead Mc Brearty on how the staff attrition crisis is being fed by a disconnection from purpose.
Staff want to feel like they’re making a difference but challenges in the system can make that feel impossible.

Paul Whiteman of the NAHT:
“[The Teacher Wellbeing Index] serves as a stark reminder of the scale of the task the new government faces when it comes to making teaching an attractive profession once again.”
The eighth Teacher Wellbeing Index is here.
- pupil and parent behaviour is challenging
- public services are not able to provide enough support
- this affects teacher and staff morale, and ability to switch off at night
We need a retention strategy that takes this picture seriously

A lovely dinner party with pals, ending with….
Oh how my late thirties are different to my late twenties!

Interesting comparison of health and education in terms of Govt’s approach to reform.

Yes, this is it! It’s not an either or. No one does their best work when they are emotionally depleted, and the kids lose out when teachers are burned out.
Follow @edsupportuk.bsky.social tomorrow for the launch of our eighth Teacher Wellbeing Index

TEACHER WELLBEING INDEX 2024
It’s dropping on Wednesday 20 November.
What do you think it will say?
#edusky #teacherwellbeing
Great to see this being acknowledged by Govt.
We’ve long seen child poverty and under-funded CYP mental health and social services take a real emotional toll on school staff.
Staff burnout or leave and CYP pay a high price.

The @edsupportuk.bsky.social team is busy getting the 2024 Teacher Wellbeing Index ready for release in November.
It will be our eighth year of the Index.
Any predications on what it will say?

The @edsupportuk.bsky.social team has curated a selection of fantastic resources for education staff on World Mental Health Day.
If you’re not doing well today, can you ask for help?
If you are doing well today, can you offer someone else help?

Education staff have told us repeatedly that they want to feel more confident holding space for tough classroom conversations that arise due to global conflicts and cultural divides.
If this resonated with you, join us on 16 Oct.

That first point is such a good one! How did we get to a place where the joy of learning has been wrung out of a generation?!
It can feel daunting to ask about suicidal thoughts and feelings. But asking about them doesn’t plant the idea. Often it can offer people relief that their distress is recognised.
