A design decision to reduce friction while gathering ingredients. No need to press a button and stop for an animation. Except for the crab pot which is a much less frequent pickup and it’s fun have a short little flourish animation.

We call it feet IK but it’s a full body blend based on angle of ground under player.A custom unity component tracks pitch/roll and feeds it back to animation controller which uses a 2D simple blend state with. If anyone is curious I can answer in comments #dosadivas #indiegame #gamedev
