Last year I interviewed a formerly homeless guy who used to get constantly rousted at night by Miami police.
He was also the class representative in a consent decree that was supposed to ban the police from that exact practice. reason.com/2024/06/15/g...
One of the things in here is the constant nighttime harassment of homeless people by police. It's a torture tactic used by departments across the country drive them out of town, drive them insane, or both.
Solidarity, to me, is rooted in the belief that life, not money, is sacred. And it requires a commitment to reflecting that faith in our relationships, movements, institutions, and social policies.
Also another thing I think it's important for people to know is that homeless people are with us here online. They're raising survival funds as they're living on the streets or in temporary makeshift housing. They're goofing off online & shitposting too. The invisible & marginalized walk with you.
